It seemed that there had been a failure in the command processors, and that also seemed to be what was affecting the helm. Whether the relay repairs alone would fix it was not clear at the moment.

“Oh Christ. Can nothing go our way? I’m going to need an assist, nav command processors failed.” Mark stalked off towards the computer processing core.

As he arrived at the computer core, he rushed to the nearest console. Exactly how bad was the damage?

Fortunately, it wasn’t terrible. A couple hours work, at most, would be required to rewire some of the connections and replace the blown out relays. That would repair the processors, but could not guarantee it would make everything function in this part of subspace.

Oh good. Another possibility. Mark thought before setting to work. It wasn’t gruelling work, but it was extensive. As he worked, he thought about what his life would be if he had taken the offer of the Marine Corps of Engineers. Worse. Decidedly worse. And this He thought while desperately trying to repair the computer processors of a starship and restore navigational control.
