Looking at his reflection in the mirror, the grin on Ally’s face spread across her face and her eyes seemed to light up. “You mean permanent bunking over. Like my mail comes to your place and when my mom calls you have to do the wave thing over your head when she calls out your name proper move in,” Ally tilted her head so that it rested on his. She never took her eyes off his nor lost the look of happy excitement on her face.
“That’s exactly the kind of ‘move in’ I’m meaning,” he said to her, still not letting her go but making sure his lips caressed her cheek in between his sentences. “The kind where I have to explain to my Mother why I never told her my girlfriend was living with me now while behind her on the comm my Dad gives me winks and thumbs ups. The type where after we go out on a date night, we don’t ask ‘who’s place’ but I tell you ‘climb on my back, we’re going home’.” Now he stopped looking at her in the mirror, and instead straightened and with his hands moving to her waist turned her to face him. Reaching up again, he brushed a hair from her face and softly kissed her forehead. “What say you?”
“I accept but on one condition,” she held her breath for a second. The next part was big. Maybe not to most but to her it was monumental. She didn’t think he would say no but his answer would ultimately change the course of their relationship. She was spoiled at times and wanted what she wanted when she wanted it. Rico gave in always to her wants and needs until the few times he didn’t. Those times she gave in without a second word because for him to say no it had to be important to him. Allison Scott was an old fashioned girl at heart. She was simple. She wanted to help people in the galaxy and have a family she could love and take care of. Ally wanted to have dinner every night followed by homework, have great makeup sex, and send out corny Christmas cards in matching sweaters from Mr. and Mrs. blank. The next question would determine if Rico’s name would fill in the spot saying Happy Holidays from the ______
“Spend Christmas with me and my family?”

Rico’s smile widened immediately and he brushed another hair from her face. In the time that they had been together on the Ogawa, since their first day, Rico had never met Ally’s family nor she his. Of course, they had both spoken to each other’s parents, often when special dates had come around and they had been there when the other had called, but neither had been home since their beginning. To Rico, moving in was a big step in their relationship, and meeting the parents in person was bigger. That Ally had moved straight to one-up his desire for her to be with him spoke volumes about how much she loved him, and his pause wasn’t to choose, but to let his smile and the love he had for her show.
“Yes, I would love to spend Christmas with you and your family,” Rico told her and pulled her tight to him, his arms moving around her back and shoulders in an all-encompassing hug, “And then you can spend Boxing Day with me and mine. I guess we are going to have to start shopping for gifts huh.”

The next day
===========Ally stood at the door at 0530 hours with her first box. This would not be too abnormal. Rico was up earlier than most as the security chief. He showed up for PT even when it wasn’t his rotation. He showed up early to ensure the duty roster was in place. He got up early to make sure the coffee was on first thing in the morning. This morning he would be just exiting the shower getting ready for work. Yesterday had been insanely busy. After the proposal to become official roommates, the search for the nail file ended. Instead, they spent the day putting things in boxes at Ally’s place and Allison Scott had a lot of things. They had taken breaks which at times caused some of the boxes to be needed to be repacked. Five hours later, Ally had her entire quarters ready to move into Rico’s. They would have done it then but she had duty. The plan was to move in today after work. With Ally, however, nothing ever went according to plan.
The door chimed once then twice as Ally used her elbow to whack at the console. She shifted the box using one knee to hoist it up further in her arms. “Come on Rico,” Ally half grumbled half excitedly called out in the hall as she waited. Rico was probably in the shower at this time of the morning but she hoped not. When either of them worked the graveyard shift, the person not on duty had breakfast prepared so that the 30-minute window they passed like two ships in the night was spent to end the one person’s day and start the other’s with a smile. Rico had to be up so she hit the chime again with her elbow and waited patiently.

Rico was indeed out of the shower, and not only that but he was rushing slightly. The exertions of packing the night before and making sure all the boxes were ready to move had meant a late night, more so because several boxes had to be rearranged. Breakfast on the table and Allys comfy clothes hung over a char so she could get out of her uniform and relax meant that Rico only had time to get half dressed himself. Wearing only his trousers, and with hair still messy he had prepared his room for her to walk in from work. Of course her enthusiastic door chime rings, while most likely seeming an eternity for his highly active girlfriend had in fact been no more than 9 seconds in ‘real life’.
“Hold on, it’s like you live here or something!” Rico called out as he wiped his hands on a kitchen towel and walked to the door, slinging it casually over his shoulder and pressing control to open the door. Bare chested he stood in the door and looked at his pint girlfriend. “Do you wanna hand with that?” He asked her and reached to take the box. “You know your not supposed to bring work home right. There isn’t another kid in here is there?”
