Posted by… suppressed (7) by the Post Ghost! 👻Rounds were often the least favorite for any security personnel. It required a keen focus but rarely had any excitement. Zoi felt a little antsy and wondered why? There was a tension in between her shoulder blades. Perhaps that was why she was able to keep her feet when the ship lurched unexpectedly. She still ran into one of the walls outside the Lounge before she was able to be completely steadied. The worst injury she would have was a little bit of red skin from sliding along the fabric covered walls. Familiar red alert lights flashed. She really needed to pay more heed to her intuition.
She moved through the lounge space as the red alert flashed in the half-it space. Others around her were picking themselves off the floor and helping friends to to their feet. The lounge wasn’t crazy busy for 2000 hours, but then again it was a small crew. Busy was relative.
Dressed in a cadet uniform (the ship didn’t currently have any cadets), the young woman slipped behind the bar to grab a medkit.
She screamed.
“Oh my God, oh my God! No!” She dropped to her knees disappearing behind the bar.
Just as she opened the Lounge doors in order to start checking on everyone present, she heard the woman scream and saw what looked like a cadet disappear behind the bar. Her brow furrowed. She knew the roster for the ship. Though she may not personally know everyone on it, she had seen them all and knew there were no cadets on board.
The young security cadet was wide-eyed as she knelt beside a bloody body. He lay prone with an engineering brace coil sticking out of his chest. His brown eyes were wide and lifeless. Others of the Ogawa crew would recognize him as Ensign Branson Hart from Engineering.
Reaching out, she checked his pulse and then looked up at the sound of people approaching. Chest heaving, she stumbled over the words, “He’s dead.”

Adrian Sorel had been sitting at one of the table’s eating his dinner alone while his mother worked late in the labs. When the ship was thrown to the portside. Both Adrian Sorel and his dinner were thrown violently from both seat and table. His head banged off the edge of the nearest table before he hit the deck. As the lights came back on Adrian Sorel was able to pull himself back to his feet while holding his head with one hand where greenish blood streamed down.
He staggered as he moved across the lounge toward the screams, his vision blurred in and out and he had to blink his eyes to try and clear them.
“Can I help?” He asked as he reached the end of the bar when he saw the body with the coil sticking out of his chest.”Oh.” He said as he blinked and his brows furrowed.
“How could he get that stuck in him here?” He asked with confusion.Adrian Sorel
Grave and suspicious, she immediately ran over behind the bar. Her eyes took in the body that was quite obviously dead. Ensign Branson Hart, Engineer. She knew there was nothing more that could be done for the man. Then her eyes immediately fell on the Security Cadet. She reached down and grabbed the young woman by the collar, ready for a physical altercation. Her voice was commanding even in the small space behind the bar, “Identify yourself, Cadet.”

The young woman’s eyes went wide and for a moment she blanked. Blinking, she took in a breath and answered, “Cadet Daniella Damisele, ma’am.” Fully aware the other woman had her by the collar, she glanced back at Branson, her lower lip trembling. “Oh, poor Losa. He was so nice!” she said, her voice heavy with sadness.

An NE engineer entered with a repair kit, the officer assigned to do whatever he could for this deck. Behind Haven and Damiselle, a familiar face came into view. =/\=Lt Pierce… I found Ensign Hart Sir. He’s… um. Sir, it looks bad. He has a brace coil buried in his chest.=/\=
=/\=Leave it alone and wait for medical. He’s probably already gone. I’ll notify the Captain.=/\=-Engineers
“Shouldn’t we call sickbay?” Adrian Sorel said as everyone had been talking but noone had called for help yet.”And Security?” He looked unsure as only an adolescent could.

IC: “Unfortunately, he had to have died pretty quickly. I am sure Medical will get here soon to handle it. And in case you haven’t noticed, I am Security Mr. Sorel.” She gave the young man a half grim smile and looked back at the young woman who had identified herself as a Cadet.
Adrian Sorel’s head dipped in embarrassment, “Yes, Ma’am.”
Moments later, Brad and two NE nurses bustled in to the lounge. It was easy to see the code black, since there was a crowd gathered around him.
“Make a space, coming through,” Brad said, nudging people aside until he caught a glimpse of the poor sod.
Ah. Yes, that was definitely a fatal wound in a human. Still, formalities had to be observed.
“OK, everyone, I need you to clear away, but remain IN this room until Security arrives to take a statement. If you’re injured, queue up by Nurse Ratchet and Nurse Clank, they’ll see to treatment of any minor injuries, or let me know if you have something serious, but non-fatal to deal with,” he said, addressing the lounge staff and patrons.

Once the crowd began to disperse, he pulled out his tricorder to get a scan of the body, while letting his eyes roam over the space above the corpse. That column had to have come from somewhere, afterall…
Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of StaffAdrian Sorel back up with the others as asked and then moved over to one of the line ups where the nurses were so his head injury could be seen too. It had seemed to stabilize once he was up and about. He wasn’t seeing double anymore but it did hurt abominably and his eyes were half slitted as the throbbing continued as he kept his hand on the injury embarrassed by the blood which still dripped as some of it ended up on the floor.

Walker’s scan showed that the brace coil had pierced the pericardium and gone right through the aorta. But it was not a straight piercing as one would expect with a driving impact injury. No, the coil had twisted and looked like it had moved upwards slightly, tearing through the the surrounding tissues.

She called for security NE’s to come to the Lounge to take statements. The last thing she wanted to do was to let go of the self identified cadet. Her eyes took in the scene now that she had the young woman by the collar. How could the young man have died. “You.” She said to the Cadet as she pulled them away from the dead body. “Stay with me.”
Then to the room at large, she asked, “Did anyone see what happened to Ensign Hart?”
Haven, Security
“No, Ma’am. The lights went out when the ship lurched. When they came back on …he was like that.” Adrian Sorel said from where he stood quietly accepting treatment from one of the medical personnel.
