Posted by… suppressed (4) by the Post Ghost! 👻Cai meanwhile slouched off to find a chair to sit in and wait as he had been asked. He pushed his hood back up and put his ear buds in.
After he had finished with the NE, Dr Jarvis turned his attention to the blue-haired teen. While the boy had not complained of any ailment, he had no intention of being strung up for not checking him over. Besides, with those earbuds in, he probably wouldn’t notice a Romulan sneaking up behind him to slit his throat, much less a doctor with a tricorder.
It was true. Cai did not notice the Doctor with the tricorder. The results showed Cai did not appear to be injured at all and seemed perfectly normal, he did have a high level of caffeine in his system and as was stated in his medical files if Jasper should chose to check he would also find the boys heart was located on the right hand side not the left as was normal in humans.
Some time had passed since Drake had been called away, and now he reappeared. “OR 1, I’ll meet you there.” He went to scrub up.
Entering the OR, he saw, not a scientist, but a simple case, subdural hematoma. A surgical kit had been prepared on a tray for him. He kicked a stool into position behind him and sat down. “Everyone, since we don’t have the facilities to do this the way we typically like to, we’re going to have to go in and do it ourselves. The squeamish may remove themselves now.”he picked up an exoscalpel in one, red gloved, hand. His other hand snapped his surgical glasses into place.
It was a more precise procedure than the surgeries of old. Advances in tissue regeneration allowed for that, even in these less than ideal circumstances. “Nurse, prepare drainage.” She nodded. Drake turned the scalpel to its highest setting, to cut through tissue and bone. He cut a circle away, just above the hematoma. Taking a surgical tractor in hand, he placed the bone in a tray, to be returned to its proper place in time. Putting down the tractor, he held out his hand. “Drainage. The nurse passed over a small tool. “Cutting in 3,2,1.” He cut away a thin layer of covering above the young man’s brain and began draining blood. “Nurse, scan to make sure it’s all gone”. He nodded at a tricorder. She scanned briefly. “All clear doctor. She showed him the results. “Ok, let’s fix the fracture then close.” Taking different kinds of regenerator, he fixed the damage and sealed everything back up. The NE looked good as new. As was customary for Drake, he watched the patient’s vitals for a moment before saying “We’re done here, turf him to the main floor for recovery. Remember; he’s still concussed.”
Flicking his surgical gloves into a biohazard bin, he commed the science labs. =/\=Doctor Marshall to Science dept. Your injured crewman came through surgery just fine, he should be back to scanning things with the rest of you soon.=/\=

The turbo lift doors opened and Sadee turned to hug her mother before she disembarked.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you, Sadee? You come first, the bridge can wait.”
“You said yourself it was only dislocated. You’re the first officer. There is a crisis. You should be on the bridge.” That was one of the most mature sounding things she had ever said. She didn’t dare mention the pain in her abdomen was getting worse, nor that she was feeling somewhat light-headed.
Amari realized for the first time how close to a grown woman her daughter was becoming and she couldn’t swallow her pride. “Okay. But I want to hear from you as soon as the doctor has seen you. Sadee, do not make me come looking for you, you hear me?”
Sadee smiled as bravely as she could. “I promise. Now go!”
She released her mother and exited the lift. It was a short distance down to the entrance of the secondary sickbay, but it seemed so far away. She was thankful her mother hadn’t noticed the perspiration forming on her brow, nor the shortness of breath she was suddenly experiencing. She made her way slowly and deliberately, to the doors, her vision swimming as they opened.
“Hello?” she called out as she entered. “I think my shoulder is dislocated.” As the ashen faced girl entered, the room started spinning and everything started to grow dim. She was vaguely aware that she was falling… perhaps backward this time.
-Sadee
Cai watched the red haired girl enter and frowned at her colour and the way she was holding herself. Moody teen angst forgotten for the moment he pushed himself up and startes toward her, compelled by the same force that had driven him to play for her when she sang. Her back was to him as she cast about for a Doctor. He reached her as she fell backwards and caught her.
Struggling to find a firm footing he glaned around. Doctor Marshall had gone into surgery…Brad wasnt here…Doctor Scott likely in the other sickbay so that left.
“Doctor Jarvis…help!” He yelled.
Cai
Finishing up with another NE, this one with a minor concussion, Dr Jarvis strode over to the sickbay doors. Tricorder in hand he bent down over the girl, whose face had gone grey and began scanning her.
Dr J. Jarvis M.D
“Aren’t you going to do something!.?” The boy demanded watching the doctor.
Cai
Drake emerged from changing out of surgical scrubs. He heard Cai yell at Jarvis and looked over. “Jarvis, if you have eyes, clearly her shoulder is not how it’s supposed to be. Given the angle, it’s dislocated. Either set it properly or I’ll do it for you.” He retrieved a painkiller. Nothing too strong, but enough to keep her conscious. Walking over, he didn’t stop to address the other doctor before administering the dose. “Set the shoulder, then scan for other injuries.” Drake wasn’t sure how a man who seemed to enjoy watching a young girl suffer ever got an M.D. to begin with.
-Dr Drake Marshall
Dr. Jarvis’s scans would show a ruptured spleen and massive internal bleeding. Set the shoulder? Sure, if one wanted to present the XO her daughter’s corpse. Sadee was unconscious and her entire began to convulse as she seized.
-Sadee (in critical condition)
The Tricorder results came in and a wicked smile spread across Dr Jarvis’ face; despite the severity of the situation. In one swift motion, he hoisted the teenage girl up off the floor and headed straight towards the surgical suite. “By all means feel free to set this young ladies shoulder, Dr Marshall, after I have taken her into surgery to deal with her ruptured spleen and mass internal bleeding… unless of course, in your professional opinion, the shoulder takes precedence.”
He then turned to the nearest nurse. “Nurse, prep the surgical suite for immediate abdominal surgery, with the strong possibility of a splenectomy.”
“Dr Marshall, why don’t you try and contact the girl’s parents. After all, as you so finely put it, I should stay out of the senior staff crossfire.”
The nurse practically ran towards the OR with Jasper following suit. Apart from his brief stint back in time on the holodeck, this would be the first time he’d held a scalpel since before his incarceration. The thought almost made him giddy. Much like when he had been a child aboard the old freighter and taken apart a mechanical device for the first time. However, the benefit of age allowed him to push such thoughts from his mind. There was, of course, an actual flesh and blood patient to save. And he could not afford the luxury of becoming remotely scalpel happy. Placing Sadee on the operating table he quickly scrubbed in, allowing the nursing staff to set about their preparations of her.
“The patient is ready, Doctor,” the nurse said after having quickly anaesthetizing the girl.
Dr Jarvis picked up the laser scalpel and made his first incision.
OOC: Harley, what am I going to find when this baby opens? Would you prefer an attempt at repair or just a straight up removal?
Dr J. Jarvis M.D
Drake hated Jarvis a little more than usual at this moment, but he did what he’d asked. =/\=Sickbay to Cmdr Brooks. Your daughter has been taken into emergency surgery.=/\=
