As engineers picked up crates and moved off, Mark said “Thompson, you and me.” Going over to lift a crate of spotlights, he asked the Ensign “Honestly, is everyone sick, or are they filling out transfer requests?”

“Honestly sir? I don’t know anymore.” Mike answered, “but if they are requesting transfers? Then to me that’s running away from something they don’t like. You have a higher standard for us than most other Chiefs, and they don’t like that.” He shrugged, “running away from an issue doesn’t solve anything.”

Michael “Mike” Thompson, Engineer

“I know things are tough around here, but I want this to be the top department on this ship. Including medical.” He paused.

“Well I can assure you, sir, I’m sticking around.” Mike said, nodding.

“Good to know there’s at least two of us. I know I’m something of a drill sergeant, or if you look at my Marine record, Sergeant Major, but it is so we’ll be the best. And I believe a tight knit, well run unit does that.” He put the crate in the nearest turbolift. “Alright. It can’t all fit, so meet me on deck 2.” The doors swooshed shut.

The NE who had delivered the goods stood watching unhelpfully. Eventually he cleared his throat and said “ Uh so…Can i like go or what here lads?’

One of the few engineers in the compartment that day said “If you’re not here to help, best get out of Lt Pierce’s way. He’s likely not in a good mood with last minute orders.”

Mark arrived on deck 2. He checked his PaDD. Doesn’t make sense. The support poles don’t seem to be going in crucial locations. They just seem to be here to hold up the spotlights. =/\=Lt Pierce to Captain Taylor. Sir, have you or Cmdr Brooks approved any large scale requisitions to engineering? Perhaps for an event? We received a sizeable shipment of support poles and spotlights with orders to place them on every deck.=/\=

Willow’s voice responded immediately sounding concerned. =^= Indeed we did not Lieutenant. Under no circumstances are you to install any such thing on my ship. Is there a name on the order?=^=

There didn’t seem to be any name when Mark checked. In fact the order didn’t seem to have any sort of order number either which would indicate it had come from the ship itself not from the Starbase where they had restocked. The captain was waiting…what would mark say

=/\=Sir… there isn’t even a requisition number on this. Just an inventory of all the parts and placement orders.=/\= There was a lengthy pause. =/\=Sir, if no requisition order was placed, someone onboard sent all this to engineering.=/\=

Willow was quiet a moment. =^= Thank you Lieutenant please ensure that the items whatever they may be are disposed of properly and that you file a report with the details of what they are, where they came from and who brought them please. I will deal with it and let you know the outcome as soon as I can. =^=

Mark rushed down to engineering. “The Ensign who delivered all of this crap, where is he? Anyone have his name?” He looked around for the NE, not Lt Pierce, but Sgt Maj Pierce, out to destroy a young officer’s day.

No one it appeared did and there was no way to retrace the order. What was clear is that Engineering, like so many departments on the ship, had apparently been subject to a prank.
