The Ogawa arrived at Starbase 157 after dealing with the whole hostage situation on Regulus III. Captain Taylor met with starbase brass to go over those events and get the Ogawa’s new mission. On a padd of information, they were ordered to head to Carraya IV, where they would be helping to build a new medical clinic. The current one has been inundated with Rouman refugees as of late and a recent storm caused serious damage to half the clinic.

Meanwhile, Melaia Reez and her twins headed to Secondary Sickbay for a checkup. Mel herself was still struggling with her post-partum depression, but now that they knew about it, her and her husband (the COP) were trying to take steps to help her. The twins were in good health, but they showed “residual activity in their paracortexes. In Betazoids, the paracortex controlled the telepathic and empathic processes, accompanied by a neurotransmitter called psilosynine. These processes of course did not work alone and involved other areas of the brain. So when the scans of the hippocampus showed above normal activity in the ventral hippocampus, because of their half Betazoid heritage, they also investigated the related neural processes. In this case it seemed quite clear that the twins were reacting to something they picked up earlier but that was no longer having an impact on them.” The twins were too young for this to be actual telepathic activity, but they were sensitive to others, including their Betazoid mother. After discussing the twins well being that day, Mel informed them that they had been unusually irritable that morning. But the babies were healthy and there seemed to be nothing permanent going on so they were released with notes t be observant and bring them back if they exhibited any more fussiness or discomfort.

Down on the holodeck, an engineering and security team were investigating the weird cargo mixup that resulted in finding a faulty phaser. The damage had been since repaired from when a security ensign had accidentally damaged an EPS manifold [last sim]. After testing the faulty phaser, they determined it to be an issue with the power cell. After tracing it’s origin, it seemed to actually be part of a batch meant for the USS Vincennes. After contacting the ship, they were informed by the Vincennes that they too somehow got some of the Ogawa’s cargo and it seems to be that the mixup likely happened at Starbase.

On Deck 3, Melaia returned to her quarters only to find the Chief of Staff’s sister outside, feeling some sort of distress at large. Mel could feel it too. In fact, some of the other ship’s psi positive people were also picking something up and it seemed to be drawing them slowly all together.

Up on the bridge, there was a brief flickering of lights that seemed unconnected to the previous cargo bay issue. Engineering investigated and it seemed to be coming from a set of relays in between Deck 3 and 4. One of the engineers found the problem relay and then also found some sort of substance that read as organic and disappeared into an adjacent panel. Removing that panel, he’s just discovered a creature.

Thanks for the update from me also, Linds. Is there somewhere in particular you want Michael? I put him in Main Engineering, when the CO made her way in there to talk with the Chief Engineer. I shall see if I can find that thread and bump it. :P
