Brad returned to Primary Medical after the mission briefing and headed directly for his office, pulling up their current supply manifests.

They needed to have enough supplies to treat 5100 colonists, plus the entire 400-odd personnel on the Ogawa. Brad wasn’t going to operate under any delusions about the virulence of this outbreak, considering that it had spread to almost the entire colony in just over two days. Some of that may have been before it was recognized and precautions put in place, but it never hurt to be over prepared for a situation.

They would need to bulk up their stores of bronchodilators, mechanical respirators, personal protective equipment and much likely more.

He began drafting his supply request to the Starbase’s logistics office, then reached for his commbadge. Best to get input from his senior staff before he actually hit submit.

He pulled up their current supply inventory on the screen on his back wall, with his suggested additions in a column to the right.

“Before we depart from the Starbase, I wanted to know if either of you had any thoughts on what else we should stock up on.”

She looked at him. “I concur commander. Better be safe than sorry fully stock up. We don’t want to go low on everything before something happens.” She replied.

“So you both agree with ordering enough to treat the entire pre-infection population of the colony, plus enough to treat the entire ship’s complement twice?” Brad asked. “Bringing aboard extra stocks of bronchodilator medication, therapeutic oxygen, PPE, broad-spectrum anti-biotics and anti-virals, anti-biotic and anti-viral precursors, sample collection tubes, vital sign monitors, hypospray vials, field medical unit kits, stretchers and sterile field generators?”

“Bear in mind, you two will be responsible for finding places to store everything we order,” he added with a grin.

“Alright, then,” Brad said, tapping his PADD and placing the requisition order with the starbase. “We should have it all before departure, giving you and your staff 12 hours to get it all stored and ready for use.”
