Cori had changed out of her dance gear and threw on a loose oversized pink sweater over a pair of fitted black pants. Her flat shoes were satin, not unlike some of her dance shoes. Raven hair now hanging loose, she moved with the same grace she danced with, but was more relaxed than earlier when she was training.

Stepping into the lounge, she meandered over to the bar where the host was mixing up a drink for someone. As he poured it out in a martini glass, it was a vibrant yellow.

She slipped onto a bar stool, waiting for Aaron. They could move to a table after he got there if they wished, but for the moment, she was happy to observe adn chat with Sam. “That’s a vibrant drink. Anything I might be tempted to try?”

Sam grinned. “I don’t know, maybe. If you’re up for a little adventure. It’s a Qikolath lemon liqueur based drink. It’s fun, but punchy. More tart than sweet.”

She gave a slow nod, her all-too-blue eyes glittering. “ Sounds like my kind of drink. I’m not sure I’m so much fun these days but I’m trying to change that.”

“I’m waiting on a new friend to come by. He’s going to want food. But I’m more interesting in desert. And maybe something to drink,” she said, folding her arms on the bar top.

Aaron walked in, he was wearing a purple button down shirt with a loose collar and short sleeves. His black slacks were pressed and neat. He saw Corinne sitting at the bar and made his way over. “You look nice,” he said. “Can I get an orange juice please” he said with a smile as he sat down next to her.

Cori gave a half bow of her with a smile at Aaron’s compliment. Everyone looked better out of workout clothes, at least in her experience.

“Absolutely,” Sam said. He more or less knew the whole crew, even if they didn’t yet know him.

“So we got to know each other pretty well today, Tell me something I don’t know yet?” he said

Nazarian slipped off to grab the orange juice, plus make a drink for Cori he thought she’d like.

~Sam, Host of Florence’s

Cori let out a throaty chuckle. “Oh, there are so many ways that question could go. I’ve had quite the adventurous life. Do you care whether the detail is a happy one or not? Because I’ve got plenty on both sides.”

Aaron laughed, “Well try not to make me cry to much, but i’m open to either” he noted. “I have my fair share of both as well.” he leaned in on the counter to listed to what she had to say. He was enjoying the fact the the ship had provided many distractions from his previous life on teh chimera

“Hmmm,” she pondered. “Well, once of the biggest details of my life that anyone who knows me should know is that I was orphaned… twice. I tried to convince myself that Starfleet was my family, but that was a lie I told myself. In reality, I kept everyone at arm’s length. Now though? I love the idea of choosing my own family.” Something pinged in the back of her mind, she couldn’t precisely say what or where.

Sam reappeared and slid an orange juice to Calder and a version of the bright yellow drink to Dalton. He leaned in and eyed her with a lopsided smirk. “Now, I told you it was punchy. Go easy on those taste buds of yours. But it has a bit of coconut milk in it that I think improves the whole experience. Have fun!”

Cori grinned. “I will!” She eyed the bright drink and it just looked… happy. Bright and happy. She took a sip and her eyes blinked a couple times before she frowned and then, just as fast, broke into a grin. “That is so odd and lively. It’s brilliant!” Did she like it? Yes, she believed she did.

“Thank you” Aaron said taking the drink into his hand and having a sip. ‘ahh’ he said
He gazed at them both. “Let me know if you want anything to eat. We’ve got a couple special items this evening. One is a cross-planetary version of a bouillabase soup, and we have fudge cake made with Delavian chocolate.”

~Sam, Host of Florence’s

“Ohhh, chocolate. yes, please, Sam. Oh! have you met Aaron?” She turned to her companion. “Sam Nazarian is a retired engineer and runs the lounge. He makes awesome food. Sam, this is Aaron, a newer security officer on board.”

~Corinne Dalton

Aaron noded.”Nice to meet you Sam, and I’ll try some of the special and have desert after,” he noted with a sly grin, “Orphaned” he sated turning his attention back to Dalton, “Twice, that sounds rough” he noted. “I’ve always had family” he said. “And close friends, ” he held out his class. “To new friends!” he said.

She tapped her glass to his. “To new friends.” Dalton sipped again and felt a strange shiver sweep up and down her spine. “I hear stories of people’s long lines of families and the reality is that I don’t know much about either of mine, my birth or adoptive families. My parents, the adoptive ones, Kip and Janey, were farmers on Ajilon Prime. A ship crashed and everyone died… except for me. I was a baby. I didn’t even find out who my birth parents were until 15 years ago. And that was hard enough information to trace.”

~Corinne Dalton

“That sounds like it was really hard?” he noted. “I don’t know what I would do without my family” he said, it was true his family had some many traditions and things that were them, that he did not know really how to keep it all straight in his head but man was it such a joy.

She gave a half shrug. “Yes, there were times when it was harder than others. I will admit that I coped by being social and even promiscuous, but keeping everyone emotionally at arms’ length. It was too scary to let people in just to risk losing them.”

Cori took a sip of her drink and smirked. “Thank goodness I’ve learned better since then. Still lost people in various ways, and that was incredibly hard, but I like to think I’ve become a person who can form friendships and not be so damn scared that the rug will be pulled out from beneath me,” she said with a laugh.

Calder smiled, “Well that is good to know, friends are key to life really, having a support system both directions realy helps us not feel so alone. My family is everything to me” he noted. “The hard part for me is finding time to be intentional with the relationships.”
