Calder stood waiting in the hollodeck, it was configured to the rehab center back on earth. He was not fully aware of the details of what had transpired but it sounded like general agility rehab would be a good start. They would test her reflexes, speed and reaction times today to get some base lines, and strength if she was up to it. He waited for Mygain to arive.Aaron Calder
USS Ogawa SecurityThough Dalton had done quite a bit of rehab as she had settled into her new body, it was a decidedly practical affair. Once she had been on her feet and able to pass some of the basic fitness tests and be on part-time duty, she had been able to continue on her own. She was on full-duty, but as her efforts in the gym had shown Calder, there were areas where of her physical fitness that could use some finessing.
Raven hair in a ponytail, the slim scientist slipped into the designated holodeck dressed for a workout in shorts, a sports tank, and runners. Cori looked around the rehab set-up and spotted Calder. “Hey,” she said. “Looks like a larger version of what we have here on this ship.” Indeed, while the Ogawa had extensive rehab facilities, they were still limited compared to a larger place like the one they stood in. And truth be told, she wasn’t keen on doing this work in public all the time. The old wounds of feeling like an experiment under observation lingered just a little more than she’d like to admit. But that was an issue for her therapist. Right now, it was fitness time.

Calder smiled as she came in “I thought maybe you would like some privacy, though we can move if you would like ” he said. Calder stood next to a floor matt He two in shorts and a tank, which revealed his well defined and corded arms. They were not large per say, but when he shifted or moved the muscle chords rippled in his shoulders with riple one by one. “I thought maybe we would introduce you to rock climbing” he noted. “It works just about every muscle in your body in ways they don’t normally get used.

USS Ogawa SecurityCori nodded as a smile broke over her face. “Nice, I like that idea. Much better than working with machines and repetitive exercises. I’m definitely good to stay here.” She drew closer. “Can’t say I’ve done any rock climbing other than whatever equivalent we did during physical training at the Academy, but I’m game to push my body and see what it can do.”

Calder leaned his shoulder in a little and pointed to his deltoid (shoulder). He moved it around slowly, as he did each cord in the muscle rippled from side to side as he moved, revealing each dense cord. “Climbing is never the same, it works every muscle in your body differently each time. ” he said punching up a beginner program and a harness. The wall was only 5 meters but a fall could cause injury. “I’m hoping this will help your mind line with your new muscles, you have to think and process what your going to do with each part of your body, or you fall” he said with a laugh. “I’ll show you up the wall this time, but basically geen is easy, yellow intermediate, red expert, black master. If you go from green to green you good if you grab hold of something else it will take you the wrong way and you’ll likely have to back track or start over” he noted.
“Roger that,” Dalton said.
He grabbed the first green, and scaled the wall like a spider, no harness, he then with came back down. “Your flexibility is going to really help you but it might get you into trouble.” he handed her the harness. “When you are ready!”

USS Ogawa SecurityThe wonderful thing about this interesting brain of hers (other than the storage of far more information than her previous Human brain had), was that Cori learned even faster than she had before. It didn’t take her long to secure the harness. It was a bit awkward at first but didn’t impede her movement at all.
“Alright,” she said, more to herself, than anything else. She set herself in front of the first green hold, and then went for it.
She had been focusing her physical training on her whole body, but out f a desire to get back to dance, there had been more core and leg work. It’s why the handstand failed sooner than she would have liked. Her arm and upper back strength needed work. She progress from hold to hold, enjoying the challenge of stretching out to grab the next. She could see that when you increased the difficulty, that it would require some interesting acrobatics. She was honestly, thrilled with the idea.
“Good, try not to rest unless you have too” he noted as he watched he go up.
Cori slowed at about the last third. Her arms still felt fine, but she knew that that would not be the case eventually. Eventually she reached the top and then easily repelled down. At that part was in her repertoire from training. Reaching the bottom, she let out a breath of air. “Well that was fun. Definitely can feel the weakness in my shoulders and upper back. It’s not terrible though.”

Calder looked at her, stay in the harness, there is water on the bench, I’m going to run the black, when I get back I want you to go start green then half way up , switch to yellow. Calder probably should be harnessed but the drop was not far and truth be told, he did not in the real, so it was good to practice they way he climbed. He briefly calked his hands and up he went like a little jumping spider. at one point he was dangling from one arm, rocking and then leaped to the next hold. The process too about 10 minutes before he was back down again. “Figured I might as well get my work outs in while your resting. “How are you feeling, ready to try the next set?” he asked. “If you keep this up, i’m going to switch to one of the actual rocks programs , colorado maybe” he said.

USS Ogawa SecurityCori had sipped the water, mindful of not guzzling it. It was a habit learned early on in her dance training. She watched him going up the hard pathway, her mind naturally tracking his movements. She shot him a lopsided grin. “It’s still the holodeck thankfully. I know some doctors that would be very irked by my injuring myself on a real cliffside.”
She set her water to the side. “I’m ready. Yellow line, right?” she said. “Anything I should be aware of or is it better to find out along the way?”
~Corinne Dalton
“I just don’t tell them, till I need them” he said with a grin. “It’s just a harder reach and smaller holds. near the top your going to have to jump to the second to last hold it’s just out of reach for most poeple.” he said taking hold of the rope. “Proceed when ready” he said with a smile

His philosophy was fine for most people, but hers was a unique situation and injuring herself required more care and potentially people involved than others might. A minor injury was fine, but something more serious? She could only imagine the chewing out she’d get after she was better, especially if the incident occurred during some sort of risky hobby.
Taking up a position at the first yellow holds, Cori looked over her shoulder to ensure he was prepared to belay for her and then got started. She moved with the same slow and considered movements, as she had with the green line, letting her focus be entirely on her own body and the wall. It was nice in a way. Sometimes with dance she could catch herself overthinking as she trained. There were ways around that, but this required all her focus so she didn’t injure herself and that was quite refreshing for a brain that worked fast and could let itself go on tangents at times.
She made it all the way near the top and spied the final hold that he said required a bit of a leap. She could see why. Her arms weren’t quite long enough. But her arms were also getting tired by this point. This felt strangely more gruelling than the required pushups for the physical fitness test.
Cori went through the action in her mind before she called out, “Here goes nothing,” and swung herself over. Her fingers caught the hold for the briefest moment, but not deep enough into it. Cori slipped.
But Aaron on was on belay and she felt the rope tighten and hoped he had her properly before she fell to the mats.
