She ginned. “There is, indeed. But that doesn’t mean we don’t need your skills, trust me. There’s been enough dicey situations in the history of the ship that security is absolutely necessary. Medical staff, in my experience, aren’t exactly the best at self-preservation when patient lives are on the line. Someone has to keep them from doing something stupid. Or at least minimize the fallout.” Reaching her hands upwards, she sank her weight into the back leg, feeling the stretch all the way up.

“Well I’m not sure I am the best person for that given that I am normally the one doing something stupid” he laughed setting the weights down.

“Well then, I guess we’re screwed,” she deadpanned before a wry smile traipsed over her face.

The music continued and it honestly had slipped into the background. Focusing on it again, the violin melody was plaintive and reaching. Cori pulled her back leg in line with her body and carefully leaned forward to place her hands on the floor. Holding tension in her core, she kicked up into a handstand. She focuse don calming her breath so ran up and down her body, but she could feel the tremble in her arms and knew she was going down. Cori tucked her head and let herself fall forward into a roll. She ended sitting on the floor with her legs outstretched and laughed. “Well, I’ve been strategically rebuilding mys strength. Guess I know the next area ot focus on.”

Aaron watched as she stretched out, ‘she is very flexible’ he thought as she rolled into a hand stand.’and stron..nope’ he thought as he set the weights down. He did not quite make it to her before she fell out, Noticing she hit her head he knelt down, “I can help you with that if you would like, and are you ok, you hit your head?”

Cori laughed harder. “Oh gods, ballerina down,” she said. “Nah, I’m fine. I managed to tuck into the roll. Head is fine. Just testing the limits of my… body. Sometimes I forget that I still need to work on certain areas.” She caught her self before she said anything she’d have to explain, but then again, did it matter? The general ship knew the loose story and that seemed to be enough. Not that she didn’t catch people glancing at her now and again, but Cori hadn’t through it was anything more than curiosity.

“Not sure I follow, but I’m glad that you are ok.” he was very new to the ship, it was nice to have someone to talk too though. “I’m a good trainer if you need one, keep you pushing the right amount just enough to break you down and built you back up” he noted.

Cori pushed herself to a standing position to prove to him (and herself) that she was okay. She eyed him with her almost unnaturally bright blue eyes and nodded slowly. “You know, as much as I have had medical support through physiotherapy and the like, it could be good to have additional input.” She drew in a deep breath. “But, you’re new, so you might not have heard the gossip yet, and there is something important you should know.”

“It’s a long story, but the basic version is that I lost my physical body on my prevoius assignment and could only appear as a hologram. But through some extraordinary events, I awake with a new organic body that is genetically me. My brain isn’t entirely organic, but the rest of me is. When I said, testing the limits of my body, imagine having no strength or any real muscle tone to support you and suddenly you’re trying to do normal actions.” She gestured up and down to her body. “Clearly, I’m doing pretty well and it’s enough to be cleared for duty. I can pass the fitness test just fine, but I’m still deficient in certain areas that would like to improve in, both for beig on duty and for my dancing. So… sure, I accept your offer if you’re wiling.”

~Corinne Dalton
“Well, thats quite the story.” He noted. “Im sorry you went through all that but at least you have a body” he smiled. “Ill be happy to help you get those muscles responding again” he said. “I mean seems like strength training, physio, and some coordination work. He stood, grabed his towel. ” start Monday? And until then want to grab a bite?” He asked finished with his routine.

“Monday sounds good. As does a bite. I’ve had dinner already, but I could use a snack or something,” Cori said. “Lounge or Mess Hall. Pick your poison,” she said with a grin as she gathered took off her dance footwear to shift back into some comfy flats.

Calder smiled, “Lounge is fine,” he said pulling out a water pottle and shook up some recovery drink, he tossed it to her, “Drink that first it will help your muscles recover faster” he said making his own. “Im going to take a quick shower and I’ll meet you there” he said

Cori caught the drink and opened it. “Okay, sounds good. ” She took a sip from the bottle and a puzzled expression came over her face as she moved to grab her bag. Tastes were still a fascinating adventure. She wasn’t sure what to make of this particular drink flavour. It wasn’t bad though, and she drank it nonetheless as she lef tthe gym.
