A little more than five minutes since issuing orders for the away team, the XO arrived in the shuttle bay. He looked at the hanger bay crew and said “Are we prepped?” “Aye, Commander.” replied the Hanger Chief. “We ran a bioneutrino sweep through the interior so it’s a close to sterile as we can get it. And we added as much gear as we could and still fit y’all in it. You got sample kits for blood, saliva, skin… hell, just about anything we can think of. And I preprogrammed the cargo transporter to such with the lab’s here. You can send samples over immediately.” Sinclair nodded and said “Good job, Chief. Now get any non-essential personnel out of her and get ready to seal off the hanger. Full biohazard lockdown after the triage teams get in and set up. Got it?” The Chief nodded and said ” On it, sir.” and he turned and started barking orders.Sinclair walked to the shuttle and began to don his biohazard gear.
Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO
John and Nurse Davies arrived shortly after Commander Sinclair, they were both slightly flustered but in good spirits. They both geared up alongside the Commander and checked each other over ensuring they were adequately suited.
“Commander, mind if I check you over? Can’t be too careful.” John stated matter-of-factly.=^=Wait!=^= Koria’s voice called out through the shuttle bays comm channel. She was banging on the control rooms window to get the Commander’s attention. She had come skidding in and was still trying to catch her breath.
Lt Sutret - CE
Sinclair looked up at the noise and gave her a half smile. “He nodded and gave her an ‘ok’ sign with his hand.
Breathing a quick sigh of relief that they caught them in time, Koria took a second to catch her breath before she came out of the control room and headed towards Sinclair.
=/\=Bridge to Sinclair. Gather your team, but stand by. Engineering needs to make some modifications to the shuttles. They’ll be as fast as they can.=/\=
Captain Myqian, CO
=/\= Sinclair. Yeah, I kinda picked up on that, Bridge. =/\= he said with a chuckle.
OOC: I’ll cover science with Cori and an NE until we have a CSO who can take over for the NE.
IC:
Cori stepped into the shuttlebay and looked up at the banging. She was in her biosuit but the helmet was in one hand and she held a case in her other hand. She waved to the CE to acknowledge that they heard her.~Corinne Dalton
McCandless, Head NurseNavale walked in after the Chief. “Chief, someone on the away team is going to have to be able to modulate the shields just like we are here.”
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO
Koria nodded as she came to a stop in front of Sinclair. “I’m sorry Commander, we just realized that we had to make some modifications to the shuttle or you’d just end up dead in the water, like the Ogawa did before we entered the nebula.”
“Go ahead and get started on the shield modifications,” she said turning slightly towards Navale before turning back towards Sinclair. “As she mentioned, someone will need to keep an eye on the shields and continue to modulate them as needed to prevent any particle build up. But we can show you what to do there.”
Lt Sutret - CE
Huzzen nodded, “On it chief.” She jogged into the shuttle and crawled under the controls and removed a panel. Taking her tools from her belt by feel alone she pulled them out and started the modifications for the shuttle to keep their people safe. She made the same modifications to the shuttle that they had made to the Ogawa.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Sinclair smiled at the Chief Engineer. Save the Captain and a few others no one really knew that the XO was, or at least had been in the past, an accomplished Tactical officer. “Well, I may have modulated a shield once or twice in my career. But please, show me what to look for and how best to deal with it.” and he gestured inside the open hatch.
Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO
Koria let out a sigh of relief, they still had to modify the two runabouts, and she wasn’t sure with their timing that she could actually sacrifice either herself or Navale to join the away team to modify the shields for them.
“Of course sir. Just give me a couple of minutes to get everything set-up, and then I can show you what needs to be done.”
With a quick nod, Koria jumped into the shuttle so she could get to work on making the necessary adjustments to the shields.
Lt Sutret - CE
John and Nurse Davies stood out of the way while the Engineers set to work modulating the shields. They checked each other over to make sure the suits were fitted correctly. John had noted that the Commander had seemingly ignored his offer, he put it down to Sinclair being preoccupied. He made a mental note to check his suit when he was finished, he didn’t want to take any chances with this plague.
McCandless, Head Nurse
Koria looked over at Huzzen after she finished making the changes to the shuttles control systems. “All done?”
Lt Sutret - CE
Navale shimmied out from under the console, popping the panel back into the place. Rolling up to her feet she nodded. “All done, Chief.” She grabbed her kit and hurried off the shuttle.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
“Get to work on the first runabout!” Koria called out after Huzzen as she hurried off the shuttle.
Finishing off with the control updates, she peeked her head out from the shuttle door and looked over at the XO. “Commander, all set here, i can show you what to do.”
Lt Sutret - CE
” Okay, Chief. Help me not make a fool of myself, okay?” the XO said with a grin.
“Uh yes sir,” Koria said as she moved to the side slightly in front of the control panel.
“We made it pretty straight forward. When the chart goes above this red line here, you hit this command sequence,” she said pointing at the red line on the display and then did the indicated commands on the control panel. “That will modulate the shields and hopefully bring it back into the right range.”
Navale responded with a crisp, “Aye,” as she made her way to the runabout and pulled off the panel and shimmied up to the access controls and began making the necessary adjustments.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
The adjustments were simple enough to make and they were completed in no time.

“I’m all done on this one chief,” Navale called out to Sutret.”
“I’m all done here as well,” Koria called out from the other transport. “Once they’ve cleared the bay let’s head back to Engineering.”
“Aye Chief.” Navale grabbed her kit and jogged over to the bay doors out of the way of the shuttles and disembarking crew.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
John checked and rechecked their equipment, he wanted to make sure they had everything they would need to assist the alien ship. He turned to Koria after a few moments.
“Are we all good to go Chief?” He asked, eager to get going.Lt McCandless (Head Nurse)
“Yes, we are good to go here,” Koria said as she closed up her engineering kit and headed for the exit. She made her way over to the runabout they were working on next and sealed the hatch, so the shuttle could depart.
A rather harried looking young woman strode into shuttle bay. For a security officer, she was disarming small at a mere 5 foot even. She was obviously muscular though, as her uniform shoulders seemed to stretch almost to the breaking point. She blew a breath up in an automatic gesture that lifted an irritating long lock of dark brown hair back out of her eyeline.
“NE Cordelle, Security Officer reporting for the away mission sir.”
NE Cordelle, Sec
Knowing they were going to tag team the rescue of these new people, Cori settled into the co-pilot seat and watched how to maintain the modifications. At the voice, Cori turned her head (it was harder to look over her shoulder in a bio suit than she remembered from before).
They had everyone they needed for this first run it seemed. “Good to go, Commander,” she said, double checking the readouts.

“Alright. Seats and strap in. Once we get docked and before we break any environmental seal, we check each other’s gear again.” Sinclair said. “We’ll make contact with their senior personnel, get a better idea of what is going on, and then triage at the hatch. Any critical cases will be transported from here directly to quarantine in Sickbay. And all… be mindful of where you are at at all times. Move slowly and deliberately. Do not, under any circumstances, risk yourselves. We are no good to anyone if we become part of the problem. Understood?”
Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO
“Aye sir.” Emma said as she made her way to her seat, setting her biosuit helmet beside her and strapping in for what would probably be a turbulent ride. Her phaser was at her hip and a knife was sheathed at her ankle, though it was also locked into its sheath to keep it from coming undone. Environmental suits and sharp edges did not play well together.
Lt Sutret - CE
John and Nurse Davies nodded as they both strapped in next to each other. John looked over at the nurse as the shuttle took off. He could see she was nervous and so subtly held her hand.
The journey over was straightforward and, remarkably, boring. The calm before the storm you could say. John bounced his leg up and down in anticipation and impatience. Agonising minutes went by and eventually the shuttle docked with the Celestial Whisper. John stood up and gathered the medical supplies and waited for Commander Sinclair.

Ensign Cordelle waited with all the calm of a placid lake as the shuttle took off. She quickly put on her helmet as the tell tale hiss and clack of docking took place. She locked it in and then took her position at the door, waiting patiently for the others to put on and lock their helmets. Once everyone was prepared and Sinclair was behind her, she opened the shuttle bay hatch to the Celestial Whisper, hand on phaser at her waist.

At 6 decks high and those decks being long, the Celestial Whisper was a sleek ship and every line inside and out seemed organic, flowing. The interior was bright with warm lighting and pale walls. The modest bay they were in had a couple small vessels that were a lot smaller than their runabout.
Before them was a woman with luminous blue skin Sinclair would recognize from the bridge as Nyrasa Vell’khor, the ship’s leader. She had called herself Keeper. She had a strong presence and muscular build. Her long thick grey hair flowed down her back, tinged with silver.
Beside her was a rather slim man who seemed older than her, though age was hard to gauge with these people. He was a lot taller than Vell’khor, but there was something softer about him, despite the desperation in his eyes.
“Hello,” Nyrasa said, stepping forward. “I would bid you welcome to our ship, but I’m afraid it might sound follow. We are, however, very grateful for any help you can give us.” She gestured to the man with her. “This is our Chief Healer, Zylithar K’rynn.”
He stepped forward and bowed his head to the group, eyeing them in their protective gear. “You wore protective clothing. A wise precaution against the Nightfall Plague. It is very contagious, at least to us. Hopefully it will not prove an issue for you.”
~Mischief Maker
Cori kept behind Royal, though she already had her tricorder out to see if there was anything to detect just now. She noted that their skin was almost as bright as her own eyes, and though they had learned the planet was called Aylia, they still didn’t even know what these people called themselves. But Nightfall Plague was an evocative name, and it seemed to make the elegant ship. She just hoped it the name was less predictive than it might seem.
