A little more than five minutes since issuing orders for the away team, the XO arrived in the shuttle bay. He looked at the hanger bay crew and said “Are we prepped?” “Aye, Commander.” replied the Hanger Chief. “We ran a bioneutrino sweep through the interior so it’s a close to sterile as we can get it. And we added as much gear as we could and still fit y’all in it. You got sample kits for blood, saliva, skin… hell, just about anything we can think of. And I preprogrammed the cargo transporter to such with the lab’s here. You can send samples over immediately.” Sinclair nodded and said “Good job, Chief. Now get any non-essential personnel out of her and get ready to seal off the hanger. Full biohazard lockdown after the triage teams get in and set up. Got it?” The Chief nodded and said ” On it, sir.” and he turned and started barking orders.

Sinclair walked to the shuttle and began to don his biohazard gear.

John and Nurse Davies arrived shortly after Commander Sinclair, they were both slightly flustered but in good spirits. They both geared up alongside the Commander and checked each other over ensuring they were adequately suited.
“Commander, mind if I check you over? Can’t be too careful.” John stated matter-of-factly.

=^=Wait!=^= Koria’s voice called out through the shuttle bays comm channel. She was banging on the control rooms window to get the Commander’s attention. She had come skidding in and was still trying to catch her breath.

Sinclair looked up at the noise and gave her a half smile. “He nodded and gave her an ‘ok’ sign with his hand.

Breathing a quick sigh of relief that they caught them in time, Koria took a second to catch her breath before she came out of the control room and headed towards Sinclair.

=/\=Bridge to Sinclair. Gather your team, but stand by. Engineering needs to make some modifications to the shuttles. They’ll be as fast as they can.=/\=

OOC: I’ll cover science with Cori and an NE until we have a CSO who can take over for the NE.

Cori stepped into the shuttlebay and looked up at the banging. She was in her biosuit but the helmet was in one hand and she held a case in her other hand. She waved to the CE to acknowledge that they heard her.

Navale walked in after the Chief. “Chief, someone on the away team is going to have to be able to modulate the shields just like we are here.”

Koria nodded as she came to a stop in front of Sinclair. “I’m sorry Commander, we just realized that we had to make some modifications to the shuttle or you’d just end up dead in the water, like the Ogawa did before we entered the nebula.”

“Go ahead and get started on the shield modifications,” she said turning slightly towards Navale before turning back towards Sinclair. “As she mentioned, someone will need to keep an eye on the shields and continue to modulate them as needed to prevent any particle build up. But we can show you what to do there.”

Sinclair smiled at the Chief Engineer. Save the Captain and a few others no one really knew that the XO was, or at least had been in the past, an accomplished Tactical officer. “Well, I may have modulated a shield once or twice in my career. But please, show me what to look for and how best to deal with it.” and he gestured inside the open hatch.

Koria let out a sigh of relief, they still had to modify the two runabouts, and she wasn’t sure with their timing that she could actually sacrifice either herself or Navale to join the away team to modify the shields for them.

“Of course sir. Just give me a couple of minutes to get everything set-up, and then I can show you what needs to be done.”

With a quick nod, Koria jumped into the shuttle so she could get to work on making the necessary adjustments to the shields.
