The nebula was 2 ly at its longest and the inner 1 ly was the most dense and turbulent. The nebula seemed on the surface to be a standard planetary nebula with evidence to suggest that there had been a second stellar remnant there, but there was no second remnant in the system. Additionally, there was hydrogen and helium present, but no carbon, oxygen and nitrogen. The metallicity seemed oddly low as well for a nebula of this type and size. The nova remnant present is also too new to have created the nebula itself, so the question is, where is the original remnant?

The rest of the danger of the nebula (eddies and what not) seemed to have been caused by something else. If they could maintain them power wise, they might need to rely on a stronger and more adaptive shield in order to handle the nebula’s odd makeup.

Koria looked over the data and there was more questions about the nebula then she could understand. They might be okay as long as they could keep the power up on the shields, but she needed a second opinion on the readings they were getting from the nebula.

=^=I’m looking over the sensor data from the nebula, trying to devise a better way to keep our systems up and running. But as I’m looking through the scans, I’m not finding anything that should be causing the system disruptions that we’ve been getting. Have your teams had any better luck analyzing the nebula?=^=

Huzzen and the Z Team settled in at the deflector control and got to work reconfiguring the sensors and field pulse to deflect the particles the nebula was emitting that messed with their systems.

The team worked efficiently and quickly. It was like looking at a well oiled machine. Each man knew what to do with just a look. It was a marvel to watch. Two of them tapped away at the console, one worked with Huzzen on the field pulse, the other fetched and carried. After several minutes Tha noble looked up from the console he had been working on.
“I think we’re good here on the deflector side of things. Lieutenant, how is the field pulse coming along?” He asked.

GM Budgie

“Almost. It’s working, but the harmonics aren’t quite where I want them. Just another moment,” Huzzen looked at her tricorder and then reached into the console with her spanner and made a small tweak to the harmonic resonance setting.”

“How’s it going over there,” Koria asked as she leaned back from the console she was working at.

Koria grimaced as what Huzzen said finally processed. She hated to say it, but it was important for her to be the one to say it. “If it’s going to help stop the buildup, go ahead and bring the modifications online. We will have time to tweak them after we make sure the ship is going to be safe.”

The perfectionist in her cringed at the words coming out of her mouth, but her rational mind applauded. There would be time for perfecting the systems once they didn’t have to keep constantly watching the ships systems.

Having come to a stopping point while she waited to hear back from Commander Dev, Koria pushed herself back from her own console and walked over to Huzzen.

“Okay, let’s take a look at what you’ve got. You said the harmonics aren’t where you wanted them to be?”

Looking over the data, it looked like everything was in line and working as intended however the harmonics were slightly misaligned. It was a small misalignment but one to cause slight concern and to warrant constant monitoring.

GM Budgie

“The harmonics just won’t stay where we need them to Chief. They will have to be constantly monitored and manually adjusted if we can’t get them locked in,” Navale reoorted.

Koria looked over the data for a moment. “Is our target constantly shifting? Or is it just not able to get them locked in?”

“Can’t get them locked in because they keep shifting, I think. It’s not erratic, but I can’t get complete lock on the pattern.” Navale ran another scan trying to lock down what she was missing.

Lt. Huzzen, Engineer

The scan revealed the nebula was causing the target to shift ever so slightly. Again, it wasn’t major it could be corrected but someone would need to monitor and adjust accordingly.

Koria stood up from her chair and came to stand behind Navale. “What have you tried so far? What is the pattern doing? Is it going a a certain number of shifts in before it jumps?”

OOC: Waiting on reply from GM for results of Navale’s scan

=^=Bridge, Engineering. We are having to keep a close eye on the systems still, we haven’t been able to completely eliminate the interference we have been getting with the ships systems. But as long as we stay on top of it, we shouldn’t have any further issues.=^=

Koria let out a sigh of relief. She hadn’t even thought of the transporter, and wasn’t sure how they would actually hold up in the nebula. Not to mention what a power spike would do in the middle of a transpot.

“Chief, I’ve done what I can here. I think it’s stable, but we should watch it incase the fluctuations in the nebula change. Should we head down to modify the shuttles?” Navale asked.

Koria blinked, that had gone right over her head in what the Captain had said. If they didn’t adjust the shuttles systems, they could end up shutting down and drifting away.

=^=Sutret to the Bridge. Hold launching those shuttles. We are headed there right now to modify their systems so they can safely fly in the nebula.=^=

“Grab your kit, let’s go,” Koria said looking at Huzzen.

Koria was already running towards her small office where she kept her packed engineering kit. On her way back through she skidded to a stop in front of one of the NCO’s, as she threw the strap of the case over her head.

“Keep an eye on the systems and the harmonics. Keep the ships systems online, and purge the impulse engines if you have to.”

Thannible nodded to the Chief.
“Aye Chief, we’ll keep her straight don’t you worry!” He called to Koria’s back as she left.

Not waiting for a response she headed for the turbolift. “You coming Lieutenant?”
