Koria took a deep breath. “Well sir, I had been coming down the main corridor here having had finished my dinner a little bit ago. As I was walking I saw the Lieutenant walk into that side corridor, which wasn’t strange. What was strange was when another man came running out of the same corridor just moments later. Curiosity got the better of me so I hurried over to the corner to see what was going on, and that’s when I saw him laying there in a pool of blood.

“That’s when I called security. And soon after Captain Myqian arrived.”

Lt Sutret - CE

Tom scratched his head thoughtfully as he took notes and listened to Koria.
“A man you say. Do you know what species? Did you see what he looked like?” Tom asked.

NE Tom OP42 COS

Koria looked a bit nervous as she shifted back and forth on her feet. “I’m sorry sir, I didn’t really get a good look. I was far enough down the corridor that I couldn’t really see much, besides he looked to be of an average height.”

She had only been okay at remembering people, Koria had always been better with machines. Give her an injector relay at 20 meters and she could tell you which manufacturing plant it came from. But people, well the fact that she didn’t even recognize the Lieutenant as being from the Ogawa didn’t surprise her at all.

Lt Sutret - CE

Tom sighed, but nodded. It wasn’t much to go on.
“Not much to go on, but it’s a start. Don’t worry Lieutenant it was dimly lit. We’ll get our heads together and make a start on the investigation.” He then turned to Zoi.
“It’s going to be a long night. I’ll get the coffee.” He stated with a smile.

NE Tom (COS OP42)

“He did run off down that corridor if that helps,” Koria she offered weakly pointing down the corridor. She really did feel bad that she couldn’t be of more help. If only she had stayed on the Ogawa, maybe someone who could actually be of use would have been here to better help the investigation.

Tom raised an eyebrow.
“That definitely helps. We’ll hopefully be able to track the person on the Security cameras.” He turned to Zoi.
“You happy for me to go and have a look at the footage? I can direct you from there.”

John McCandless (Head Nurse)

Koria nodded. She felt kind of useless, hopefully the Lieutenant would be okay, and be able to recover from his injuries. That would make it all slightly better at least.

“Um, am I free to go? Or did you have any other questions for me?”

Lt Sutret - CE

Tom nodded.
“I have no further questions for you. I’m sure Commander Zoi will know where to find you if we have any more questions.” Tom stated with a smile.
“Try not to worry, it was dimly lit. We’ll get on top of this and find out what happened.” He stated trying to sound reassuring.

NE Thompson

Koria nodded. “Of course, I’ll be returning to the ship.” And taking the hottest shower she could get, trying to scrub even the idea of traces of his blood off of her. “Hopefully you’ll be able to find who did this.”

She looked back and forth between them for a second before giving another quick nod as she tried not to walk too quickly back to the ship. Yes she was heading back earlier then her crew had told her to, but she figured there was a pretty good excuse for the early return.

Zoi let her eyes wander as her ears listened to the young woman and her recounting of the events. It was dimly lit and it didn’t seem like there was any security cameras around, but Tom would know better than she would what the layout of security was for this deck. The Chief of Security of the Ogawa turned her gaze back to the young Chief Engineer. “Thank you Lt Sutret. I appreciate that you were able to be out here when you were. It could be the difference between life and death for the man.”

Tom nodded and watched her leave he then turned to Zoi.
“Well, lets crack on shall we?”

Tom, OP42 COS

She gave NE Thompson a small smile and nodded firmly. “We will need to gather any security recordings of the area and probably have a team sweep the corridor for any evidence. Can you get your teams on that?”

Haven, CoS Ogawa

Tom gave a smile back.
“Aye, we can definitely do that.” Tom replied turning to a young Andorian Lieutenant.
“Lieutenant Syza, take a team and sweep this corridor for any evidence, have Boris and Beth scourer the security recordings of the area. Get as much footage as you can around the time of the attack.” Syza nodded and she relayed all the orders and the Security teams burst into action.

“I would also like them to search the footage from the hour leading up to the attack to see if anyone is watching our victim. Even if they did not show their face during the attack, they might not have been careful enough to hide entirely their intention before.” Zoi would not operate on the idea that this was a random attack. Looking for clues as to the how and why would lead them to the culprit. If they found footage of anyone watching or following the victim but could not identify them, then they would know they were dealing with a level of skill beyond a random encounter.

Tom nodded and directed the team to search back through the footage an hour before the attack.
“Aye, I’ve set them to it.” He replied.

Tom looked around the scene and frowned. He caught what looked like a blood trail leading away from the scene. He turned to Zoi and pointed.
“I think we have our first clue. Seems to be a trail leading away from the scene.”

“Then let us follow it and see where it leads.” Zoi responded and she took out her phaser, set it to stun, and began to follow the blood trail.

Haven, CoS

Tom nodded and held his phaser at the ready as well. The trail led away from the scene off the main promenade and down a small side corridor. The corridor was dimly lit and there were 4 doors, two on each side. The blood trail led to two of the 4 doors.

There had been no indication of a second assailant. Zoi frowned at the two trails and looked at blood spatter directionality. Had the assailant tried to obfuscate the direction they were headed? If so, it could be that one or neither of the blood trails would lead them to him or her. She was careful not to let her feet touch the blood or damage evidence and couched down to get a closer look, depending on Tom to keep them covered. She would hate to split them up as it would be dangerous and likely a waste of resources to do so. Perhaps the blood spatter would indicate the true direction they should follow.

Tom kept watch while Zoi bent down to inspect the blood trail. It was clear that the suspect had tried to confuse the trail but it had been poorly done. The trail lead into one of the doors and then back out into the other. The suspect had then tried to cover their tracks, there was a slight smear of blood outside the door furthest away to Zoi.

She nodded to herself and followed the trail to the door furthest from her. She held her phaser in one hand and indicated Tom should cover her when she opened the door. Perhaps they would be lucky and the assailant would have passed out within. Then this ordeal could be handled quickly. If it ended up being more complicated… well, Zoi was very good at her job and she assumed Tom was as well.

Tom nodded and took up a position next to the door. He was a veteran with decades of experience, he knew what he was he doing. He held his phaser at the ready and slowed his breathing.

She mouthed 1, 2, 3 and then opened the door.

As soon as the door opened Tom burst in. The room was lit but there was no one there. The room contained a small desk and a chair like a small reception area. It would seem that this was part of a very small office. There was a single door at the left of the room, there was a faint sound coming from the room. Tom silently looked back to Zoi and put his finger to his lips and motioned to the closed door. He slowly made his way over, careful to not make a sound. He repeated the same procedure taking up a position on the left of the door and waited for Zoi to join him.

Her entry coordinated smoothly with Toms, covering and checking the space for the perpetrators. Sadly the immediate room was empty but both experienced officers turned to the closed door. Zoi’s footsteps were smooth and silent as she moved towards the door, phaser ready. The faint sound from the other side made her hope that this chase would come to an end now. Just as before, they set up to enter and repeated the same maneuver to get through it and clear the room or detain whomever might be within.

Tom stepped through the open door just like the first time. This time though, the room was lit and there was a huge Norsican pacing around the room. He looked up as Tom entered the room, stunned. This was over in moments as he pulled a blade and rushed at Tom. Tom aimed his phaser at the Noriscan, fired and missed, trying to side step to the left on the inside of the room. He dodged as the blade narrowly missed his head and then the Noriscan was on him. They sprawled to the floor, both fighting against each other, the Noriscan on top of Tom giving Zoi a clear shot.

Almost as soon as the Norsican was on Tom, Zoi was in the door amd she fired her phaser to hit the alien. Successfully stunned, the creature fell limply on top of Tom. Zoi quickly secured the rest of the room, checking for any additional occupants before bringing her attention back to the single occupant.

“Tom, my man. I see some target practice in your future. ” She said with a grin and leaned down to begin getting the Alien off of the man.

Tom grunted as he pushed the weighty Nausican off.
“Ha, he moved too quick. Then I thought I’d keep him busy for you.” He replied grinning and standing up. He dusted himself and looked around the room.
“I wonder what he was doing here.” He stated.
“I’ll watch this one if you want to take a look.” He added kicking the Nausican in the ribs.
