Between the medical team and engineers, they managed to get Zoi and the pilot out of the stuck turbolift. The Ensign’s broken arm was easily tended to, but the Chief of Security was brought in and placed on the biobed with a head injury. She was still conscious. Kehinde leaned in and squeezed Haven’s shoulder. “Now you listen to the good doctors, okay Chief? We need you back and in good shape,” she said as the doctors renewed their assessment of their patient.

Ensign Kehinde Anghelescu

“Yes sir Ensign.” Zoi said with a half smile.

Drake walked over and started assessing the patient. “Somebody take this Ensign and fix his arm.” He opened his tricorder and started scanning his patient. “Lieutenant, can you tell me your name?”

“Zoi Haven, Chief of Security. I am on the USS Ogawa and as far as I can tell, there was an explosive decompression on the ship which resulted in enough jostling around to give me a concussion.” She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Her voice was steady, though she was speaking her words more slowly and intentionally than usual. She looked extremely pale. “Good evening Doctor Marshall.” She replied blinking slowly. Gods above she was so tired. It was hard to stay awake even in the bright lights and loud noises of the SickBay after such a disastrous explosion on the ship. The sounds around her hurt, her head hurt, her eyes hurt, her neck hurt. Overall she had a pretty severe concussion and a strained muscle in her neck. The nausea was at bay for the time being but who knew what would happen if she sat up.

She wanted to tell them to go to other patients who had worse injuries than her, but she had no way of knowing how bad her concussion was and what the repercussions of the damage would be. It was hardly the first time the Chief of Security had retained a concussion in the line of duty.

Haven, CoS

Drake checked his tricorder but was encouraged by Zoi’s response. He smiled. “Good evening. Just try and relax while we check you over.” He hoped the scans showed nothing serious.
