Drake set to checking Hammond’s circulatory system, seeing what he could do to restore normal flow. Sometimes he was struck by the fragility of people. Starfleet officers threw themselves in front of danger constantly, but it took so little to turn that wrong.

There was still swelling from the crush injury, and there were bones that would need to be set, but as he surveyed the scans, there were two significant clots complicating the situation.

Drake changed some settings on his vascular regenerator and set to work dissolving the clots. He had a clear order of operations in mind and all the patient needed to do was survive.

The clots were quickly dissolved and allowed the flow of blood to move unimpeded again, increasing the likelihood that the patient would regain the use of the limbs.

Drake set to administering anti-inflammatory medication and re-setting the bones. There was a moment when Drake felt the potential value of a desk job. Sometimes his job was a lot of stress. But he wondered who would do it if he did not.

From there, everything went smoothly and soon the patient was stable and moved to recovery.
