Everything went in freefall and in that way things could connect in the brain, Cori felt the similitude of this moment with others she had experienced. Things went dark. When she blinked and opened her eyes she was no longer on the stool at the worktable chatting with Leana Parsons, a specialist in biochemistry that she had been shadowing today. She pressed her hands to the deck and pushed her chest off with some difficulty. She must have hit the deck hard as her ribs hurt a little and she struggled to take a full breath at first, but it was fine after a moment. The lab was illuminated by pulsing light of a red alert.
“GALEN, what is the cause of the red alert?”
“The red alert was triggered by a hull breach affecting Decks 7, 8A and 9A, aft location.”
“Sh!t,” Cori said and looked over. Leana was also pushing herself upright. “Leana, you okay?”
She nodded. “Just a little winded. You?”
“Same,” Cori said. “I don’t have a duty station but we should see if we can help.” The other scientist nodded and they helped each other to their feet and headed carefully through the door. Cori peeked out into the corridor, knowing the breach was farther aft then this lab, but unsure if there would be more damage.

A bright bluish-white light pierced the darkness and flooded a ten square meter area with light. At the center of the light was a wild-haired and heavily tattooed figure wearing a pair of cargo shorts and white sleevless t-shirt that said Wish You Were Here with an arrow pointing at the base of a mushroom cloud and carrying a black pack slung over one shoulder.
Kane looked around and saw Dalton and snapped “How many in here, Lieutenant? And how many wounded?”
Kane, R&D (And A Damn Fine Physician)
Cori sighed in relief at the sight of Kane because that meant the corridor was safe, or at least traversable. “Just us two in the bio lab. We were just going to check on the other labs. Lieutenant Parsons is with me. We’re both okay for the most part. Just knocked off out stools and hit the deck hard.”
~Corinne Dalton
=/\=Attention Decks 7, 8 and 9. Please be advised that non-essential power will be cut immediately to prevent further power surges. Take all precautions. That is for all of Decks 7, 8 and 9,=/\= GALEN’s voice said over the entire deck.
~Mischief Maker
Kane nodded and said “Ok. Make sure any hazardous materials are secured and protected and then let’s go! We’re gonna clear each lab in turn and then get everyone in this section out. Move!” and he said firmly and began looking around to make sure nothing was left out that could cause even more problems.
Kane, R&D
the lab was pretty clear given how few people had been in it at the time. Cori and Leana moved carefully into the corridor and moved to the next lab. For the most part these labs were okay, just dealing with shaking from the explosion.
Other scientists had left their labs as well, checking on people as well as assessing the situation, but Cori was only just familiar with the ship’s layout. She didn’t know the nooks and crannies like everyone else did, nor where she should go other than stay close to Kane for the time being and try to be useful.
~Corinne Dalton
Emergency repair teams swarmed the area around the breach and other damage. Medical and Security were clearing the decks so they got to work diagnosing the major problems and securing bulk heads and removing debris.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Kane moved through the chaos and assisted with injured. Some he stopped and treated, some he just transported to Sickbay. They came to a part of the passageway that had a large wall panel had fallen, blocking further access. Kane laid on the deck and looked under the panel through the two-inch tall gap between nit and the deck. “I see someone back there.” he said to Dalton. “We gotta get this thing out of the way.” and he stood up.
Kane, R&D
“Hold on,” she said as she dashed (cautiously) into a room they had just checked. Cori came out with a small antigrav unit used for moving heavy crates of supplies. It wasn’t able to handle tons of weight but it might give them leverage.
“If we can get it high enough, I can probably shimmy along the floor and reach them. At least long enough to get good readings for you.
~Corinne Dalton
“Don’t worry about the readings. Just tag ‘em and get the hell outta there.” Kane said and handed her a transporter tag. He took the unit and attached it to the panel. “On three. One. Two. Three!” and he activated the unit. The panel rose awkwardly but was off the deck about two feet.
Kane, R&D
Cori pulled herself underneath as quickly as possible and reached out, her fingers stretching to reach the person underneath. She tapped the person’s arm with the tag and then shimmied out as fast as possible. “Done,” she said, popping to her feet. She had done so too quickly and swayed, but only for a brief moment. The moment passed and she moved down the corridor slowly where the emergency team was working on wherever the breach was. As far as she could tell, it was near the end of the deck.
~Corinne Dalton
Kane knelt down and tapped his commbadge. =/\= Kane to Transporter. Tag active my location. Emergency medical transport. Engage. =/\= and he watched as the crew member disappeared in a swirl of lights. He stood up and began to follow Dalton. “Ok… let’s see if we can give them a hand.”
Kane, R&D
Achilleas slowly opened his eyes, his head throbbing with each beat of his heart. The dim emergency lighting cast eerie shadows across his CSO office. As he tried to sit up, the room spun around him, and he winced at the sharp pain in his head. Memories of the ship shaking violently and then darkness flooded back to him. He must have hit his head during the chaos.
Gathering his resolve, Achilleas pushed himself upright, using the edge of his desk for support. Despite the dizziness, he knew he had to assess the situation. Any damage severe enough to get past the inertial dampeners and toss him about meant potential injuries among his staff. With unsteady steps, he made his way to the door, steadying himself against the wall as he navigated the swaying corridors.
As he emerged onto the damaged deck, Achilleas’s heart sank at the sight of chaos and debris scattered everywhere. Ignoring his own discomfort, he focused on his mission—to find and assist any injured members of his department. With each step, Achilleas’s determination grew stronger, pushing him forward through the haze of confusion and pain. He would not rest until he knew his team was safe.
CSO Petrakos
Kane led Dalton to the Main lab area and helped the Damage Response Team move some debris from blocking the door. He then pulled the panel off the access to the manual door operations. He pulled and slowly the door began to open, inch by inch. In a few moments he had the door open enough to look in. “Hey!” he yelled. “Anyone in here? Moan if you’re hurt!”
Kane, R&D
Ensign Parsons was checking other spaces and spotted someone in the corridor. She let Kane and Dalton check on the other lab. It took her a moment in the emergency lighting to recognize that it was the CSO. “Lieutenant Petrakos, are you alright?”
“Shaken and a bit scuffed up but functioning well enough to help the search.” Achilleas responded while he masked the pain he was in. There were certainly people worse off that needed the help now. He could wait.
“If you’re sure. Parsons and I were in the biochem lab. Everything is secure in there and most of the labs back that way are also clear. Up here, though…”
In the larger lab, a voice called out, “I’m stuck!”
Cori ventured in carefully, shining a light into the dimmer space. Near the back was the form of a crewmember who seemed to have a large piece of equipment pinning their leg to the floor. “Don’t move! We’re coming to you.”
~Corinne Dalton
Bump
OOC: Sorry for the long absence. I got pretty sick for a bit.
CSO Petrakos
Cori carefully crouched and swept the light over the hunk of metal that was insisting on the crewman staying. Petrakos and Kane would probably recognize the computer science tech, Emilia Hammond, who had enlisted in Starfleet a couple years ago on a whim. Cori was still getting to know everyone. She reached out and placed a hand on Hammond’s shoulder. “Just take deep breaths while we assess the situation.” They could easily beam her out if the transporters would work in this area, but until they assessed the injury, they might make things worse by removing the pressure.

Bump
Bump
“Deep but slow. Don’t hyperventilate yourself.” Achilleas added, likely unnecessarily, in an attempt help distract Hammond. He moved closer to Cori and Hammond to provide a familiar presence.
CSO Petrakos
Dalton looked between Kane and Petrakos. “Do we try to lift it off? I worry about compartment syndrome. But we can’t leave her here. How’s power elsewhere? Do we have transporters?” The piece of equipment had to be a good seventy-five kilos.
~Corinne Dalton
Kane moved in and looked at the pinned crew member. He pulled out his tricorder and scanned the leg. “Multiple fractures and lacerations. But nothing to indicate we can’t get them outta here. C’mon, Dalton… give me a hand.” and he positioned himself to help Dalton clear the debris.
Kane, R&D
“Chief,” she said to Petrakos. “Can you pull her out once we get this piece of equipment lifted? It needs to be fast.” Cori shifted her position on the other side of the hunk of metal and braced her body in a stable position.
~Corinne Dalton
Achilleas shuffled over to a position directly in front of Hammond’s head. He stretched his hands out and urged for her to clasp his hands. “Hold my hands and when they get it moved enough that you’re loose I’ll pull you out. You’re going to be okay.”
CSO Petrakos
Hammond was barely conscious but managed a weak, “Okay,” and grabbed his hands, or at least moved her hands where he could at least grip her wrists or forearms.
