As the ship came out of warp as they entered the Gamma Tiltium system as planned, a simple message came through for their new CE: Go.

Alerts started popping up on engineering systems all over the ship. NE MacGuffin squinted and then tilted his head before sliding across to another console and tapping a few more times before looking up with a large amount of concern on his face.

“Chief, come take a look at this. When we dropped out of warp the computer registered power surges in EPS conduits 3, 4, 5, and 6 Aft. These are at critical levels, but I can’t seem to trace the fault. It seems to be causing a cascading event. Almost as if we struck something and it is keeping a plasma valve open, but we are seeing any hull breaches yet.”

Navale walked over to MacGuffin and looked over his shoulder. “That is weird.” =/\=Engineering to the bridge. We’re showing critical levels in EPS conduits 3, 4, 5, and 6 aft. It’s cascading like we hit something. We aren’t showing any hull breaches, but we’re going to take the warp drive offline so we can go check it out manually and see what is happening.=/\=

She set a hand on MacGuffin’s shoulder, “Send repair team 6 to meet me at the aft maintenance hatch. Let the chief know I’ve gone to check it out.” Huzzen grabbed her belt and bag and jogged to the nearest jefferies tube entry and started climbing.

“No need to let me know, Lieutenant. I’m already in the loop”, Alex said, walking up behind her, seemingly out of nowhere. “In fact, stay here, be ready to take the warp core off line if and when you get the go-ahead from the Bridge. I’ll go and check out the physical integrity of those EPS conduits as soon as the core is down, to see if they provide any clues as to what caused this. I’ll call for backup if and when I need it.”

With that, Alex grabbed a tool belt and disappeared into the nearest Jefferies Tube with it. She didn’t quite close the hatch - that way she’d be able to monitor from afar what Huzzen was doing in Engineering - but for all intents and purposes, she was being a fly on the wall unless and until the signal came to spring to action.
