Cori chewed on her lower lip for a moment as she plucked another item off the platter. “I… don’t know? A whole galaxy of places and I never was drawn anywhere in particular. At least I don’t remember anywhere specific.” She shrugged. “I also know that being stuck in a computer made it dangerous to imagine beign elsewhere. It hurt to much to know it wasn’t possible. The holodeck was all I had ad I actually loathed it for that reason.”

He leaned in and stage whispered “Hey… you aren’t in the computer anymore.” and smiled at her in a way that he may not have realized was filled with promise and hope. “You are allowed to dream now. To look forward to things… places… events… people. Keep telling yourself that, okay? You get to look ahead, Cori. You are moving again.”

Royal

She sucked in a breath and offered Royal a smile. “Intellectually, I know that, and almost everything I do in a day right now also reminds me of that fact, but it’s harder to feel, if that makes sense.” Cori chuckled. I’m working on it, along with everything else.”

“What about you? Where is your R&R hotspot?”

He chuckled and shook his head. “No… no ‘hotspot’ for me. I like to go back home. Glasgow. Walk the yards and hit the Barras to see what I can find. Find a quiet pub with a good pint and good food.” He sighed wistfully and smiled. “Just be regular guy again… not Star Fleet, or Doctor, or Commander. Just… Royal. That’s my favorite way to vacation.”

Royal

She smiled at him and braced her elbow on the table as she rested her chin on her hand. “And what does ‘Just Royal’ like to do when he’s not on duty, besides chowing down on sample platters with newly-Human-again women?”

He smiled back as his eyes found hers and stayed there. “No… not women… just you.” he said plainly. He then said “And if you must know what I do off duty, well… you’ll find that out if you are ever inside my quarters.” and he chuckled.

Royal

She lifted her drink. “Is that an offer?” Cori said before the words hit her brain. She drank to hide the flush that surely accompanied the heat on her cheeks but she also didn’t apologize.
