Everyday for at least an hour, Cori did physiotherapy. Sometimes it was active exercise, sometimes stretches, sometimes massage to relieve soreness from mucles unused to doing, well, anything. As much as it was about getting her fully in shape and able to pass a fitness test for duty, Cori had her own personal goal that she was clear about from the start: she wanted to dance again. Her old holographic body could do any move flawlessly, better than any prima ballerina. But it was fake. There was no exertion, no effort required to hold a pose using a strong core. There was no tension between the lifting of her front body and the grounding of her back body that held her tall and straight in space. After so many years in the computer she had forgotten what any of that was like.
Now though, she was remembering.
Cori stood in the matted area near the weights that had mirrors lining the all so people could monitor their form. There also happened to be a barre. So it was here that Corinne Dalton stood in second position with one hand on the barre and she very slowly bent her knees outward, held the position and then lifted. She repeated this every few seconds, focusing on drawing her abdominal muscles inward and keeping her spine straight, her shoulder back and down.

Brad had come into the gym that morning planning on a simple arm workout, until he saw the solitary figure at the back. Lt. Dalton. He suppressed a grimace, still not entirely comfortable with how she’d come to join the crew, but decided to be welcoming and friendly.
“You know, I thought it was a rule that ballerinas always had to wear the tutu,” he said with a teasing grin as he approached her, picking up a couple of light hand weights from a rack on his way over.

Cori couldn’t help but grin. “Depends on the setting. Warmups and basic exercises don’t demand it. But just you wait. Give me some time to build up some skills and there’ll be a tutu.” She dipped into the plié, straining a little as she focused on her core muscles to draw her back up. It was harder than it used to be, and not because of her holographic years.
“I’m Corinne. Cori, if you like,” she said, holding out her free hand to him.
