“You’re right, of course,” Alex said. “So. When could this happen? I’d much prefer to get it over with before we get orders to high-tale it to our next medical disaster, if at all possible,” she said. “My schedule is pretty open, for now. It may not always be.”

Kane didn’t answer right away. She was adding the scans to the file she had created, until Winter’s complete file loaded. She was going to have to tell GALEN to run a check on his processing times. It was inexcusable for a hospital ship to not have complete medical records arrive on time. The tricroder disappeared into her pocket. “I can do it right now.”

“Fine by me,” Alex said. “No time like the present. Where do you want me?”

Kane waved to the nurse. “Jt’nal. Get Lt Winters prepped and take her to the surgical suite. I’ll be right there.”

The Vulcan returned, “Right this way Lt.” He led her to a room to change into a gown and then into a surgical suite where he helped her onto the biobed and turned it on, calibrating it for her vitals.

Kane walked in minutes later. “Would you prefer a nerve block or full anesthesia?”
