Corinne nodded as she chewed on her lower lip for a moment. “I suppose this would be a good time to confess that I have a fear of small, completely dark places thanks to the Douwd. Royal had just helped me get quarters of my own on the Saracen and we had only started properly decorating. I hadn’t even stayed in them when I disappeared so I haven’t actually slept anywhere in all these last years, not even in a pretend setting.”

That, Alexis, could completely empathize with. “You can control the level of the lights in your room, and we can replicate anything you would like or need.” She studied her a moment, “Or we could move you to ICU. There will be a nurse with you the whole time, or the main bay. It will be quite busy.”

Kane, AMO

That was a strangely tough decision. She remembered the panicked reaction to Royal even possibly suggesting she might have to be somewhere on her own. Surely she’d be able to sleep, right? “How about for tonight we try the ICU, and if I am able to get rest and more at ease there, I stay a couple more days and then try Recovery? Otherwise tomorrow I got to Recovery and actually get sleep. I mean, realistically I can even walk myself to a washroom, so I’m going to be reliant on folks for some stuff anyway, right?”

Kane shrugged. “The optics for the back story may be off, and if we put you in ICU we will have to get Walker involved sooner than we want. How about we just put you on a biobed on the ward for a day or so? Lots of traffic, lights, you will never be alone and will be constantly monitored.” He thought for a minute and then said “That might actually work better. I mean, Security is gonna have to interview you… and us.” He looked at Myqian. “Think you can smooth that avenue with the CoS? She is probably gonna be super pissed we brought an unknown onboard without her knowledge.’

Alexis wasn’t sure that Walker would even bat an eye at this point. She and Solomon got involved in so many ‘off the record’ things and other projects for the ship, that she wasn’t sure he would even notice or want to ask. “The main bay is just as good and much busier. You won’t be isolated. I don’t see any medical reason you need to be admitted to ICU.”

Cori nodded. “Okay, main bay it is.” She rubbed her hands together, marvelling at the sensation and the way she could feel her body processing it. “Besides, as annoying as having people interrupt your sleep could be, I don’t really remember what sleeping was like, so it’s a new experience altogether for me. Which is weird and kind of awesome,” she said, her scientist mind flexing again for their first time in quite awhile. As SARAH she had never really had to think about things. She just accessed and had answers, or could computer it without having to really work through anything.

“You will probably sleep a lot these first few days.” Kane said as he slid off the table he was sitting on. “REM sleep will allow your subconscious to be fully integrated into the positronic matrix. Once that has fully happened, I would expect some of those memories you are missing to come back. Maybe not, but some. So let’s go get you settled.”
