Sinclair let go of her and looked down at her and smiled. “Because… you vanished from one system. Logic says you’d have had to go somewhere. So… I kept it in case I manged to find out where that ‘somewhere’ was.” He stepped around the desk and took a seat. “I have that silver-framed picture of your folks here, too. I know how much that meant to you, so I kept it as an incentive for you to come find me.” and he winked at her. “Now go on, get outta here Lieutenant. Rest up. You have a lot of catching up to do. And when you are up for it, let’s have dinner. But no rush.” and his blue eyes sparkled with… something. “I mean, I know where you live now. We’ll have ample opportunity to catch up.”
Sinclair, XO
She broke into a wide grin. “Stalker,” she teased, but there was nothing but amusement and affection in her eyes. “Dinner it is. And for fun, I am learning all about food again and the joys of it. So we can experiment with my tastebuds.”
Dalton moved to the door, but looked back at him for a moment. She shook her head, gave Royal a wink, and left.

Maybe half an hour later a message came in from Dira: ||When you want to finally have that drink I have a bottle of Draylaxian whiskey I’ve been saving. Good vintage. I think we both could use it.||
Captain Myqian, CO
=/\= More than a little. =/\= Sinclair said with a sigh. It had been a day. =/\= My place or yours? =/\= he asked.
Sinclair, XO
=/\=Let’s do mine. I’ll even tidy before you arrive if you give me five minutes notice,=/\= she said, joking. Or was she?
Captain Myqian, CO
Sinclair finished the last of the work he had in front of him and left his office. A few minutes later, the Captain’s chime sounded.
Sinclair, XO
“Enter,” Dira said, moving about her space and gathering a few random clothing items and simply tossing them into her bedroom onto the bed to be dealt with later.
She was a woman who liked comfort, who revelled in the simple luxuries she could grant herself in her life. Soft blankets, beautiful scents, warm candlelight, calming music, delicious but simple foods. Evidence of it permeated her quarters and it was clear that even though she had come aboard that first day like most of the crew, she’d made the effort to make her quarters a place of refuge.
A large soft rug spread out under the sitting area and she’d managed to affix sheer cotton drapes around her windows, despite not needing to block the light (or the view). There was shelves of books, a wooden cabinet with contrasting floral inlays, unlit candles, and trinkets from her travels. And beside the standard desk setup offered her was an old wooden trunk, closed and possibly locked. A fake potted shrub sat in another corner and she had a large crystal vase filled with flowers and greenery in a riot of colours. There was a dining table with four chairs, and a sitting area with a loveseat and an overstuffed armchair, both of which were draped with soft and cozy blankets. But the simple beauty of the place was marred (perhaps) but reality.
She was messy. But contrary to how her old quarters were, Dira had been attempting to keep on top of the tidying, especially since Zoi was around more. But still, empty coffee cups sat on side tables and the desk, and somehow there were always random socks under her couch (she took them off at the end of the day when she was relaxing, preferring barefeet). The blanket on the armchair was almost on the floor as if it had been hurriedly tossed off at some point, and her uniform jacket had been tossed over a dining chair with her boots underneath.
Dira gathered a couple plates and set them in the replicator to be recycled and then turned to Royal. “Good enough, I think,” she said with a lopsided smirk. “What’s your poison tonight, or did you want that whiskey I told you about?”
~Dira
Royal took in the ‘decor’ and shook his head and smiled. “You know, after seeing the state of your previous office, this doesn’t surprise me one bit.” and he chuckled. “Whiskey is my poison, so yes to both.” He moved to the loveseat, but stayed standing and looking around the room. “We’re going to have to get you coasters for your chair on the bridge. Ops keeps complaining about rings on the arm control panel.”
Sinclair, XO
She quirked a brow as she moved in bare feet over the cabinet with the pale wood inlay. “At least I use a travel tumbler and not an open mug.” Dira opened the cabinet and pulled out a bottle with a spiral neck. “And my office wasn’t that bad. At least I’m focusing on keeping my ready room tidy. I should get credit for that.”
Dira set the bottle on the coffee table and then quickly replicated some rocks glasses with ice cubes and joined him in the sitting area, taking up the arm chair, though she had to move the blanket and simply flung it over the back of the chair haphazardly. Picking up the bottle again, she carefully worked the seal until it gave a little and she was able to peel off the thick layer of wax, which she just deposited onto the table before she wiggled the stopper up and it released with a ‘pop’. Pouring a double measure of the whiskey, she set the bottle down and lifted her glass up to him. “Cheers to a 2362 vintage and, uh, the strange events that happen over our careers.”
She swirled the liquid around the ice a little (this type was better well chilled) and downed a moderate measure. It flowed like silk down her through. “Damn, that’s good.”
