Sinclair let go of her and looked down at her and smiled. “Because… you vanished from one system. Logic says you’d have had to go somewhere. So… I kept it in case I manged to find out where that ‘somewhere’ was.” He stepped around the desk and took a seat. “I have that silver-framed picture of your folks here, too. I know how much that meant to you, so I kept it as an incentive for you to come find me.” and he winked at her. “Now go on, get outta here Lieutenant. Rest up. You have a lot of catching up to do. And when you are up for it, let’s have dinner. But no rush.” and his blue eyes sparkled with… something. “I mean, I know where you live now. We’ll have ample opportunity to catch up.”

She broke into a wide grin. “Stalker,” she teased, but there was nothing but amusement and affection in her eyes. “Dinner it is. And for fun, I am learning all about food again and the joys of it. So we can experiment with my tastebuds.”

Dalton moved to the door, but looked back at him for a moment. She shook her head, gave Royal a wink, and left.

Maybe half an hour later a message came in from Dira: ||When you want to finally have that drink I have a bottle of Draylaxian whiskey I’ve been saving. Good vintage. I think we both could use it.||

Sinclair finished the last of the work he had in front of him and left his office. A few minutes later, the Captain’s chime sounded.
