USS Ogawa

XO's Office- Reunions

Posted by Lieutenant Corinne Dalton (Scientist) in XO’s Office- Reunions
One week. Seven days. 168 hours. 10,080 minutes.

Corinne Dalton used to measure her life in precise increments because she was always aware of the passage of time. The exceptions had been before her transformation, the years when the Douwd had trapped her in the black, sensory nothingness of a corner of the computer cut off from everything, and the last two years stuck in that cube in what really amounted to a coma. No memories, no nothing.

For the first four days since she had awoken into a body that was flesh and blood and bone, Cori had her body worked so that it remembered how to function. As Solomon Kane had guessed, it took almost four days for her to fully integrate her new positronic brain with her body’s autonomic nervous system so she was aware of herself. Thus she could be saved the embarrassment of any accidents (of various kinds) from happening in this extraordinary moment.

She could now stand and walk reasonably well, but her muscles were still regaining some strength so she had a cane with her just in case. Cori had also had several in depth conversations with Captain Myqian in which Cori got the impression the woman was trying to not be too shocked by some of the stories she was hearing. But the conclusion was that if Corinne wanted to remain in Starfleet, barring passing the standard evals and qualifiers, Myqian was happy to have her formally on her crew, if that’s what Corinne wanted.

She had thought about it all week and after this reunion Dalton wanted to stop further up the corridor and tell the captain she was in.

But first…fate. Destiny. Was it all a coincidence? Perhaps. And Corinne had certainly never prescribed herself as a religious person, but somehow she had ended up on this ship with experts who had the means and capabilities to transfer her to a real body, and also with the man who had never given up on her apparently. And while she wasn’t sure how to fully classify the select people she’d met on Ogawa this far, she knew this one person was first and foremost her friend. She could use friends.

She looked at Solomon Kane as he broke into the office and smirked. “I kind of love that my new life has started off with so much illegal activity. Makes it kind of exciting. Certainly won’t ever be classified as boring.”

Kane finished tapping commands into the small access panel by the door. “No, but it will definitely be classified… no doubt about that.” he said as he closed up the panel and the door slid open.

Corinne stepped in and gave him a nod, letting him take care of the next stage of the plan.

Kane tapped his comm badge. =/\= Kane to Sinclair. I’m at your office like you told me to be. But I don’t have time to wait on you while you do your nails or something. Can you kindly set the tea down and show up, pretty please. =/\= and then he looked at Dalton and said “Good luck.” and he turned and walked off.

Moving carefully to the desk, she cleared space on the corner and perched herself atop with her legs crossed and cane hanging off the side. Once again she waited, but this time there was anticipation.
