“Oh, hi!” Cori said. She carefully reached forward, so the dog could sniff her and then cautiously reached out to stroke the dog’s head. “It’s nice to meet you Frigga,” she said, breaking into probably the most genuine smile she’d displayed since she appeared in Kane’s lab. “You remind me of Calista, our neighbour’s dog. We always called her Callie.”

Frigga stretched closer letting her pet her, and then wiggled around some, shifting Dalton side to side carefully. It actually worked the woman’s core muscles some as well as tested her balance. Then she lifted her head for more pets, but in such a way that Dalton had to reach just a bit farther, sit up just a bit more in order to do it. It was subtle and careful.

Cori giggled slightly, though she had to brace herself a little. “Yeah, you and Callie would have had tons of fun.” She reached forward until she was leaning forward too, resting her other arm on her thighs.

Dalton looked up at the others. “Assuming I’m in stable condition, will I move to a different place than… this?” The bay was not exactly the most soothing place to convalesce but she didn’t begrudge them needing a place like this. It was secure, after all.

“I’ll leave it to your doctors, but when they are satisfied, we can move you to a recovery room. Fortunately for you, there are two sickbays and we have holoemitters across the whole ship so medical response is fast,” Dira said. It was important that Corinne feel like she had some autonomy and wasn’t trapped anywhere. There were tiny telltale signs of anxiety in the woman and given what she had read and heard so far, there were definitely issues for the woman to work through. But she could properly work through them now. She had the opportunity. “I will need to add you to the crew manifest as a patient, but I will give it exactly the time you all need to be ready for any reactions. If you wish to speak to Commander Sinclair first as well, I see no reason why we can’t wait for that too before adding you.”

Kane looked at Alexis and said “Nothing in the neuro scans gives me any kind of pause, so I am good with whatever. We can do a musculoskeletal stimulator for a few hours a day, too.” and he looked at Dalton. “That will refresh your body’s core strength, although you will need regular exercise and therapy to be back to a hundred percent.” He then looked at Myqian. “My report will be filed with Intel in the next hour. I’ll send you a copy of what I’m reporting so you can gel your report with that one.”

“Lucky for you, I had your body injected with the core immunizations while it was in cryo stasis. Otherwise we would have to keep you isolated until you had the full round. I want to keep you here for another hour just to make sure there are no surprises, then we can move you to recovery.” She looked at her and back at Solomon and then Dalton again. “Corinne, how are you feeling? Physically? Every sensation, ache, pain, pleasure, comfort, discomfort. I want you to really listen to your body and tell us what it is telling you.” The only request she had made was for water when she was coughing, nothing else. She should be very fatigued from the strain, weak, shaky from lack of food, sore muscles from all the coughing and movement. She wasn’t surprised by the lack of mental fatigue with a positronic brain, but Dalton should be getting all kinds of messages from her body.

Cori looked confused for a moment and then closed her eyes and focused on her body. When she opened her eyes a few moment later, she frowned. “I… don’t know? I mean, I can feel things with my hands, clearly, like Frigga’s fur, and I can feel my body is resting on this biobed. I’m a tiny bit lightheaded, but I don’t know, not really anything else?”

Dia’s dark eyes took in the woman rather intently. “I think given everything you’ve been through I don’t think it’s s unreasonable to expect a bit of dissociation. In this case it’s be more depersonalization- a separation from your body. You’ve not had to process physical sensations and bodily functions for so long your brain is taking time to catch up. And not to put to fine a put on it Lieutenant, but you’ve been through some rather traumatic events. Even this”-she gestured to Corinne herself-“is a trauma, even if it’s a positive experience. It’s still something we have to process. But it does mean that until everything syncs back together you’ll have to be reminded to do basic things like eat and use the washroom. They are things you’ve forgotten you need to do.”

Cori sighed a little, but she did nod.

Kane watched the scan data and said “Yeah, for a few days. The positronic matrix will catch up, though. I’d say… seventy-two to ninety-six hours and you’ll actually be able to tell when you need to pee.” He turned and looked at Dalton. “You want to try eating?”

Kane, R&D

For a moment uncertainly flashed across her face. “You know, this is one of those memory glitches. I can’t remember if I had a favourite type of food. I can remember the sort of things that Kip and Janey used to make because we ate a of stuff that we grew ourselves, but I feel like there is something I actually love that I learned about later, after I joined Starfleet.” She shrugged. “But sure, let’s try food.”
