Alexis had moved over to the control console for the cryotube and checked the reanimation sequence. “5 more minutes till we can move the body.” She moved over to the biobed and began programming the parameters for the life support. “I’m using the vitals from her last recorded physical. Captain if you could watch these. I expect they will be erratic at first, but if they appear to be moving into dangerous highs or lows let us know.”

“On it,” Myqian said moving in closer and actually kind of grateful for something to do.

Alexis moved back towards the cryotube where the body was floating rather than suspended and frozen. “The body is ready to be moved.”

Kane, AMO

Kane was watching the monitor in front of him and he said “Synchronization is at 100%. Let’s get her on the bed.”

Kane moved to the cryo tank and made sure it was locked in the horizontal position. He then released the pressure seals and waited for the internal pressure to equalize with the room’s atmosphere. The lid released with a soft pop and hiss, and Kane lifted the lid. As he did, the fluid drained away into collection tanks and he reached down and slid his hands under the body, lifting it up and turning and setting it in the biobed’s body-shaped depression. As he did, the bed lit up with a white-gold glow.

“Ok. Transfer is set.” Kane said. He looked at the monitor and waited… and waited… and then there was a soft hum and the bed’s began to slowly turn from white to blue, matching the cube.

Kane, R&D

Alexis moved over the controls, initiating each of the life support systems and making sure they were matching with the recorded rhythms. Then slowly she matched them to adjust to the signals matching the cube. The theory would be that it would make the transition less strenuous on the new body. Lungs began to work, muscles contracting, heart beating, blood flowing, and the brain pulsed.

Kane, AMO

“Heart rate 58, BP 118 over 72,” Dira said, unable to help from smiling at the extraordinary sight before her. “I’m detecting theta waves.” Signs of a dream state. That was good, right?

Captain Myqian, CO

She ran over the field, the scent of the sun baked grass tickling her nostrils. Arms pumping, her heart pounded in her chest and she could do nothing but grin. Overhead, the cloudless sky was radiant, glowing. Everything glowed, including her. Her skin exuded light and she felt the warmth in her fingertips and toes. A rush of energy up and down her body, tingling her spine. She ran because she could, for the joy of it.

“Yeah, that’s great. ” Kane said. He watched the cycle draw, pause, draw, pause… each draw a bit more of the conciousness that was Corinne Dalton. It felt like hours, but it was actually only about forty minutes when the cube pulsed three times and went dark. The bed around the body flared with a brilliant blue-white light and rhen slowly faded, pulsing more and more slowly until it too went dark.

“Theta waves are excellent. It means the brains higher cognitive functions and subconscious is active.” Alexis continued to monitor the finer details and watched, fascinated, as the limbs jerked and twitch as the nerves activated.

Kane looked at the vitals. Stable and well within normal range. Brain activity was high, but still within normal ranges. It looked like she was having extremely vivid dreams… but she was dreaming. He looked at Alexis and grinned. “I… I think that’s it.” he said in a slightly awed voice. “Holy fu<%! We just moved a person!” he said loudly. He stared at Dalton’s race for a minute and then said “Shit. Hang on.” and he left the room, coming back with a gown that he put on her. “Coming to naked in a place you don’t know is for benders and long R&R.”

Dira chuckled. “Good thinking.”

Alexis grinned, “We did.” She was still cautious. They moved Dalton, but would it hold? She helped to get the gown on their patient and then took several detailed scans, watching the electrical impulses, making sure they didn’t fluctuate. She watched the O2 saturation and the blood circulation, her heart rate and pulse rate. She watched as the different brain waves began to register. “Now we just have to wait for her to wake up.”

“It’s extraordinary,” Dira said, moving closer. She could see the eyelid twitches indicating REM sleep. She stayed in the woman’s potential field of vision, but not so close as to be hovering. Suddenly, Myqian was noticeably overwhelmed.

“She’s feeling joy. Whatever dream she’s having, it’s a happy one.” That she could pick up feelings from Dalton was astonishing, given a little while ago, her emotional states were detectable due to holographic displays.
