Having corralled the needed people to help moved everything, Dira took up station in the quarantine bay, acting like a sentry. Her presence alone would deter anyone with questions but also she knew Kane had set it up so that no one who shouldn’t be there couldn’t get in.And so she waited.
Captain Myqian, CO
Several of the larger antigrav sleds loaded with oddly shaped pieces of equipment were hauled through the outer access corridor to the quarantine bay. Alexis keyed in the code and the asceptic entry activated as each person and sled passed through. “Captain Myqian.” She greeted and then began ordering people about to place the equipment. The tallest of the pieces was set in the middle of the line. Then she sent them all back through the asceptic entrance and ordered them for a physical.
Kane, AMO
“Commander,” she greeted with the tiniest of a smirk. “We’re not going to be doing this thing on the regular, are we? Otherwise-” She was interrupted by a notification and held up a finger to indicate to give her a moment and stepped out.
Alexis quirked a brow. There was no way to predict what Solomon’s “other” assignments and projects would entail. Alexis certainly wasn’t planning to build new bodies for captured and tortured consciousness especially.
Dira returned a moment later and stepped back in with Frigga in tow, in work mode. “Someone most definitely wants to say hi.” It was a reunion as much as Frigga was here for Dalton.
Captain Myqian, CO
The harness did nothing to stop Frigga’s excitement. She yipped once and ran forward, weaving a circle around Alexis sniffing her all over. Stopping in front of her, Frigga jumped onto her hind legs and nudged and licked at Alexis hands until Alexis sat down on the floor allowing the dog to crawl into her lap. “Hi Frigga.” She hugged the dog close and then pet her until she calmed down. Alexis looked up, “Thank you, Captain.”
Frigga jumped up and ran about the room, allowing Alexis to stand. Frigga searched the whole area and then came back, tail down and whined. A smile tugged the corners of her mouth. “He came back too.”
Alexis and Frigga
“That I did.” Kane said as he walked into the room carrying a solid black case.
He petted Frigga and then looked at her and said “We’ll catch up, ok? Right now we gotta work. And you need to guard the door. Go, guard the door.” and he pointed out of the bay.
Kane set the case down and then said =/\= GALEN. Isolate location from Computer Core and all comm systems. Then close access to this location to you as well. Authorization Kane Alpha-six-nine-seven-two. =/\= There was a long oause and then… nothing. =/\= GALEN? =/\= Kane asked, and received no response. He went to the door and locked it before turning around. “Let’s get to work.”
The next thirty minutes were Kane and Kane unwrapping equipment and connecting power and diagnostic equipment. When they were done, there was a cryotube with a female body suspended in it next to bed with a depression built into it that was the size of the body. Thousands of minute contacts were built into the depression, and an array of machines were connected to the bed. One such machine held a flat, copper colored piece of metal on top. Kane opened the case and pulled out the glowing blue cube and set it gently on the metal, ensuring it was aligned and making full contact. “Skipper… meet Lieutenant Corinne Dalton.” he said as he moved to another console and began tapping in commands.
Kane
Cori shimmered into the room, took in the two people she knew and the one she didn’t. The four pips across the collar startled her. “Crap, I’m not dressed for this.” She shimmered again and reappeared in her blue sciences uniform, complete with her fully earned two solid pips.
Dira gave the woman a warm smile. “Lieutenant Dalton, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Captain Dira Myqian, CO of this vessel.”
“A starship?” Cori shot Kane a look before focusing back on Myqian. “That’s a nice detail.” She was about to say more when the cryotube caught her eye. Ignoring everyone for the moment, Dalton moved over and took it all in. “It does look like me,” she whispered, shaking her head slightly. “It’s so surreal. I never actually thought anything like this would ever happen.”
“It is you,” Alexis said. “Aged a little than the last time you saw yourself. We had to account for the years in between.”
“Kudos, I appreciate the attention to detail. I’ve bene looking like I’m twenty-five for far too long now. Who am I kidding, right?” Cori said, tossing a glance over her shoulder.
“Is this what you want, Corinne?” Dira asked. “You’re willing to take this risk knowing it might not work and what that actually means?”
Dalton turned and lifted her chin, holographic eyes shiny with tears. “It’s like I told them back in the lab. I’d rather be dead than be someone’s pawn or be trapped somewhere for my whole existence. I’m so tired of never knowing what’s tangible, what I’m allowed to have, what I can trust.” She shook her head. “If this doesn’t work, it’ll put me out of my misery, and if it does work then I can a new start. Finally. And this time, someone can’t just take it away from me on a whim because they’re a bit afraid of what I am and what I can do.”
Myqian nodded. “And I want to honour that choice. That’s why I’m simply here to observe and support. Are you ready to claim back your life?”
Cori laughed. “Ahh, Captain, I’ve been ready since I woke up in Sickbay after supposedly dying on the holodeck with a gunshot wound. I’m skeptical about this all, but I figure everyone’s been very honest with me and while I’m not going to go and say I trust you all, I trust you more than I might otherwise have.”
The Captain looked to the Kanes. “Alright. what’s next”
~Corinne Dalton & Captain Myqian
Alexis looked at her, “When your ready, you’ll go back into the cube. Kane will start working on syncing and transferring you into your brain. I will starting the reanimated sequence for the cryitube. We will transfer your body to the biobed, hook up life support, and then make rhe transfer. Then…you’ll wake up. We don’t know what you might experience during the transfer.”
Kane, AMO
Kane finished tapping commands and turned and said simply “It’s time.” and he nodded at the cube.

“I’m scared,” Dalton whispered.
“I’m be worried if you weren’t,” Myqian said, gently. She stepped up to Corinne and rested a hand on her shoulder, the mini forcefields allowing it feel solid. “You’ve ben dealt a raw deal and no one here is going to deny that. It’s going to be a journey afterwards trying to sort out what your life is now in this new reality. But it’ll be your journey, Corinne, your choices. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I will tell you this. For whatever reason you came to my ship, and that makes you my responsibility now. From this moment on, you have people here who care what happens to you. You’re not alone anymore.”
Holographic tears actually rolled down her cheeks, disappearing into thin air past her jaw. She met the captain’s gaze and nodded.
Dira gave her a tiny wink and released her shoulder. She nodded to Alexis and Solomon. They could go ahead, she was giving the thumbs up on the woman’s mental state.
Corinne Dalton, in all her holographic glory took another glance at the body and then the people around the room, stood up tall, rolling her shoulders back. “Let’s do this shit. See you on the other side… or not.”
~Corinne and Dira
Kane nodded once and began synching the cube to the bed. As he did, the hologram form of Corrine Dalton shimmered, went staticy, and then disappeared. He looked at the monitor for a moment and said “Synchronization started. Prep life support and then we can get her moved over..” He looked at Alexis and said “Never say I didn’t give you the best honeymoon ever.” with a grin before turning back to the monitor.
Kane, R&D
Alexis had moved over to the control console for the cryotube and checked the reanimation sequence. “5 more minutes till we can move the body.” She moved over to the biobed and began programming the parameters for the life support. “I’m using the vitals from her last recorded physical. Captain if you could watch these. I expect they will be erratic at first, but if they appear to be moving into dangerous highs or lows let us know.”
Alexis moved back towards the cryotube where the body was floating rather than suspended and frozen. “The body is ready to be moved.”
Kane, AMO
Kane was watching the monitor in front of him and he said “Synchronization is at 100%. Let’s get her on the bed.”
Kane moved to the cryo tank and made sure it was locked in the horizontal position. He then released the pressure seals and waited for the internal pressure to equalize with the room’s atmosphere. The lid released with a soft pop and hiss, and Kane lifted the lid. As he did, the fluid drained away into collection tanks and he reached down and slid his hands under the body, lifting it up and turning and setting it in the biobed’s body-shaped depression. As he did, the bed lit up with a white-gold glow.
“Ok. Transfer is set.” Kane said. He looked at the monitor and waited… and waited… and then there was a soft hum and the bed’s began to slowly turn from white to blue, matching the cube.
