“It’s not the sitting right now,” she said softly before opening her eyes. “And yes, I think something would be good, since, thankfully, I don’t need to be sedated.” She could be stubborn and refuse anything, but that wouldn’t help her or her medical team. Besides, she tried to be a good patient.

Alexis looked over at Jt’nal and nodded. “2mg Ativan.” The nurse loaded the hypo and set it to her neck and pressed the button.
It didn’t take long for the medication to start working and the tension started to flow out of her body, and her heart rate dropped back to a normal level.
Alexis set a small extender beside the biobed and set Myqian’s arm on it before setting a small surgical frame over the arm. “I’m going to set the nerve block.” She tapped at the frame for a moment and then picked up a small handheld device that glowed along the end. After a moment the arm went unfeeling half way from the elbow. “How are you feeling, Captain?”
Kane, AMO
It was likely that had she refused the medication, she would have panicked when she couldn’t feel her arm. It was the loss of control over her own body, that much she knew. But with the Ativan, Dira just gave a slightly lopsided smile. “Gooood, actually.”
Captain Myqian, CO
“That’s excellent.” Alexis nodded to Jt’nal and turned her attention to the frame interface. She began by injecting the nanites and then directed them into the wrist and carpal tunnel. Using them she was able to extract the nerve where it was being compressed and then route it back into its correct place and anchor it there. She glanced up occasionally at Jt’nal to check on the Captain.
Then she used the nanites to fix damage to the torn tissues around the original injury to help relieve the swelling. Then she directed them into the blood stream and extracted them through a phlebotomy hypo. Then it was just a matter of letting the bone knitter do its job. “How are you doing, Captain? Still feeling good?”
Kane, AMO
“Yes. It’s strange. My body feels light, but it’s not a bad thing. Though a tiny bit lightheaded, but I’m lying down so it’s not a problem,” Dira said. It was like her brain didn’t even want to traipse to that unwanted place where the unease would surface. Intellectually she knew it was all still there, but the medication kept it safely tucked away.
That seemed to be on par with the medication she had been given. Her vitals were stable and she was physically calm.
“How much physio do you think I’ll need?”
Captain Myqian, CO
“A few weeks. Dr. Ferdlu will do an assessment and give you a more accurate time line.” The knitter stopped, and Alexis took a microtome for more images. Then she repositioned the knitter to finish sealing the fracture.

“So much for the rock climbing I had planned,” Dira said with a slightly cheeky smile. “I joke, of course. I suppose it’s helps that it’s my non-dominant hand.” Still, there were many activities that were on hold for now and she would just have to lean on her other options for workouts.
Captain Myqian, CO
“It is a simple matter of restrengthening the tendons and surrounding tissue. They are healed but weak from the forced dislocation. It will get stronger,” Alexis assured her. When the knitter was finished she took one more scan of wrist to ensure it was healed to her satisfaction. “I’m going to remove the nerve block now, Captain. It will feel very much like pins and needles and first, but it will pass.” She picked up the long rod with the glowing tip and carefully removed the block to allow the feeling to return.
