Her heart was still racing as she made her way to her quarters, led by one of their guards, Kal’it, and of course with Su’en in tow. She was simultaneously miffed and concerned about the man who was rather somber at the moment. He was an odd one at times. He could be both overly protective and seemingly disengaged at a turn. And it was worse lately. She was also sad she didn’t get to try the watermelon, but that could happen later.
Mero stepped into the well-appointed suite and smiled. Like everything on this ship, the space felt welcoming. For a giant floating medical facility, the Ogawa was much more than your typical ship. “I suppose we wait for the other person to arrive. What do you think is wrong? Doctor Walker said something about our breahting devices. That is odd, don’t you think?”

There was a loud rapping on the door, odd that the chime wasn’t used. As the door slid open, a figure unlike any of the other crew stood framed in the doorway.
Unlike the other members of the Ogawa crew, this figure, a human male by all appearances, did not possess the same… ‘polish’… that the others maintained. In fact, it seemed as if his uniform was worn more as a chore than in the proud and meticulous way of the rest of the crew. Additionally, there was his personal appearance. Heavily tattooed hands held a tool bag in one hand and a model of the respirators in the other. His hair was long, almost shoulder length, but completely shaved on the left side of his head. The long hair wasn’t well kept or managed, falling instead like a mane of wild grass across his face. A face shadowed by a beard and mustache; all of which only served to enhance the almost feral look on the man’s face. The glare was adamant and unwavering through the clear facemask he wore so he could breathe in the space set aside for the delegation. “I’m Kane, Research and Development. I’m here to look at the Ambassador’s respirator.” he said and simply walked in and moved things off a table and began laying out tools. Without looking up, he said over his shoulder “I need the Ambassador’s and one other respirator. Don’t tell me whose is who’s.” he said without so much as a ‘Hello.’
Kane, R&D
For a moment Salin just stared at the man with abject fascination. Given they were in their own atmosphere, she unhooked the device carefully and handed it to Su’en so they could be set on the table together. A part of her wanted to ask what exactly was wrong, but the man didn’t seem to invite conversation. She would wait and see for the moment.

Su’en removed his as well, handing them off with a heavy sigh before looking off to the guards and then Kane. His eyes squinted as he sized up the heavily tattooed man, silently but yet clearly judging him. “Hmm,” he said with a little note of disdain and glancing to Mero with a look of distrust but then glanced back to Kane. “Very well. Let’s see if you are as good as we are told you are.”
GM Wombat
Salin appreciated that he was beign protective, but she did wish he’d be a little more agreeable. Despite this being a personal medical matter for herself, they were still diplomatic representatives of their people.
Kane didn’t look up, he simply took the devices and began to analyze their exteriors. He then set them down and pulled up the holo of the standard device and picked up one of the ones given to him. He opened the case effortlessly, scanned the interior, and dis played it next to the first. He repeated the process with all the devices, comparing each to the standard and looking for any irregularities… although he made certain not to show any to the ones watching.
Kane, R&D
“What exactly are you looking for?” the ambassador asked, trying to peer at what Kane was doing. Her stomach twisted slightly, but more than that, the dizziness was back again and she swayed slightly.
The scans of the devices showed no irregularities. They all seemed to be working as intended and had all the same parts. The only differences were in the specific fit to the person and the cause of the ambassador’s increase in oxygen intake did not seem to be strictly mechanical.

Kane looked up and started to speak when he noticed the Ambassador sway slightly. He moved ridiculously fast, pushing past a guard and taking her arm. “Sit down, Ambassador.” he said flatly, moving her to the couch and setting her down. He went to the table and grabbed the tricorder and then, after making a few adjustments, scanned her. He paid particular attention to her oxygen levels.
Kane, R&D
The guard who had been with her earlier, Kal’it glared at Kane and stepped closer to Mero. Her oxygen levels had dropped from 102% to 98% for her normal and she was showing the same arrhythmia that they had seen in Primary Sickbay. She was gasping slightly for breath as her nitrogen levels had also dropped. “You should-” The protest died on her lips as her eyes rolled back into her head and she slumped into the couch, falling unconscious.
