Maria may have made a small miscalculation, however this would work either way. Maria didn’t spend much time on the science labs. Other than the equipment inside they mostly held little interest for her, at the moment, so the journey went by rather quickly. It wasn’t very long before the intrepid pair found themselves at the section that divided the two sections of deck 8. She opened the door to the other half, and followed the captain onto deck 8B. Maria into the upper portion of the Shuttlebay. “Don’t take a runnabout apart for fun Maria…” She softly murmured, just loud enough to be overheard. She wandered around the shuttlebay both in awe and thinking.

From their vantage point in the upper portion of the shuttlebay, Dira smirked a little at Maria’s comment. But as they moved down to the shuttlebay deck on Deck 9B, she was taking in the vessel with quiet reflection. The desire to flee was still there, but it was less so than others areas. This place was a reminder but it wasn’t her memories that hit her here, but knowledge. Knowledge of what went down here and why. Intellectually she understood her reaction, but that didn’t make it feel more comfortable. “Our two runabouts are kitted out to be mobile clinics of sorts. The shuttles are all standard.”

Maria seemed to get a little more fidgety the closer that they got to the shuttlecraft and the runabouts. She seemed to get a little starry eyed, her respirations picking up ever so slightly. Maria was somewhat aware of the slightly discomforted feeling coming from the Captain, though she was substantially less aware of it the when they came in close with the shuttlecraft. Maria started acting more and more like a kid in a candy store filled with all of their favorite candies. She was keeping herself restrained as they walked by, but she was excited and it clearly showed as her step became extra bouncy, almost like a skip as they walked around the shuttlebay. “Considering the entire ship, that isn’t that surprising. I mean can’t really do that on a shuttlecraft… the poor babies…” The last few words were muttered, intelligible only if the Captain was standing shoulder to shoulder with the girl. Otherwise they were easy to hear, but hard to understand.

Dira couldn’t help but smile. There was something infectious about Maria’s enthusiasm and it didn’t mattered what the woman had said, Myqian could tell she was enthralled. For a moment it allowed her to focus on something else but her own disquiet. “The Ogawa also has the capacity for planetary landing. We have access gangways that allow us to load patients into the ship to the triage deck where they are then close to Secondary Sickbay. But we have had to test that function out yet.” She almost joked to give it time but bit her tongue, not wanting to jinx them. Regardless of how unscientific it was, she’d never be able to shake that superstitious aspect of being a health practitioner. There were just some things in this Universe that you didn’t mess with.

Maria blinked and turned to the captain her face showed her astonishment and that she was absolutely flabbergasted. “I didn’t know that… it should have been in the technicals somewhere… I guess I have more reading to do.” She chuckled softly as she continued to bounce slightly. She nodded vigorously. “We can be glad that we have not had to test it before, however it is good to always have it, though we need to know how to do it in those cases.” She said biting the inside of her cheek just a little. “Maybe it should be something we should do a drill on…” She said thinking, walking over to one of the runabouts, she gently runs her fingers on the hull.

A gleam appeared in Dira’s dark eyes. “You know, you might be onto something with that. We could perhaps find a nice planet, set ourselves down and maybe give the crew a break before we test reentry?” The idea had floated through her brain more than once but they hadn’t really had an appropriate opportunity. She had considered it briefly when they were helping the Romulan refugees, but it hadn’t been necessary. But not only would it be a good idea to practice the maneuver, but it would shake thing up a bit and perhaps that was what they all needed right now after all the drama and changes.

Maria looked thoughtful. “That could be possible, though if we pick a good plannet it may also give time for us to take a couple of days of shore leave. Let everyone get some fresh air and have some fun.” The energetic trill woman seemed to have fresh batteries put into the almost bunny of a woman as she started to bounce on her heels with renewed viggor. “And then if we find one with good beaches we could have a beach side party.... and barbecue.... and maybe rig a couple of phasers and spare emmiter crystals and some other refracting prisms into a stellar light show....” as she spouted ideas off the bouncing got faster and faster until the poor gil was almost practically vibrating. “Oh Captain that sound so fun… can we.... can we please?!?”
