Maria walked over to the console, and looked at the display. She frowned and her face scrunched up which made her look like she thought about the answer. After a few moments of silence, she looked to him. “One of two things… either the parts to the EPS on that level have degraded to a point where they are no longer efficent… or.... Well, We have a stow away on that level that has patched into the EPS grid…” She said her voice sounded like she deffintly didn’t like either idea though she would be less upset with the first. She taps the console a few times, and looks up to see when the last time the EPS manifold and junctions for the deck had been maintenanced and / or replaced.

The last time those particular junctions were cleaned were about six months ago, between missions, as per the regulations. They received routine maintenance, nothing but the increased power draw was particularly out of the ordinary.

“Chief, I’ve tried to cycle through and clear the errors, but new ones just keep popping up.” She walked over, rubbing the etching on her forehead in consternation. “Would you like me to go down there and check it out. It shouldn’t be pulling that much power.”

Maria nodded. “If you would please. Keep your comm open when you get near the junction. Something doesn’t feel right. I would rather be safe than sorry.” She said frowning. “We will also keep monitoring from here.”

Navale grabbed her tool belt and slipped into the Jeffries tube access room and began to climb. =/\=Huzzen to Maria. I’m entering tube J5. I’ll be at the junction in another minute, Chief.=/\=

Maria looked to the commander before turning back to the console =^=Confirmed Lieutenant. Proceed with caution. As stated before, keep the Comm open, please.=^= She said her voice tinged with worry.

The going was easy, it was after all in good condition, however when Huzzen reached the junction in question it was covered in a purplish glittering goo. Tricorder scans showed that it was electrically charged and seemed to be what was consuming the power. Given how big the amount covering the junction was, it seemed to be using the electricity to grow and replicate.

=/\=Well that’s unexpected,=/\= Navale muttered to herself, but was picked up by the comms. She looked at the goo, careful not to touch it and shock herself. She wondered what it would do if they cut the power completely to this section. Would it become violent? How could she manage to get a sample? Eh, probably better to leave that to Science. =/\=Well, Chief, I found the problem, but I’m not sure what it is or what to do about it. It’s some kind of ooze or gelatinous substance, purple in hue and…glittery. Like an adolescent girl went craft crazy. Scans say it is using the power flowing through the junction to grow and replicate. I think we need Science down here. Probably need to work on rerouting power for primary medical and the labs if this isn’t a quick fix. … Huh could we maybe beam it out of here?=/\=

Maria looked towards the XO. =^=Standby on that. I’m going to see about rerouting to bypass the junction, fall back to a relatively safe distance while keeping it in sight.=^= She ordered and waited a few minutes before she began to punch in a series of commands onto the main console, she tried to divert the flow of the energy from that junction to another one and route that back to the labs and medbay. While doing that she activated the rooms comm, since Huzzen’s comm channel was routed to her combadge.

The power diverted successfully, routing around the affected junction. In the tunnel the creature shimmered slightly and eventually plopped off and started squirming away from Huzzen, as fast as a purple blob of goo can travel, leaving a glittering slime trail in its wake. Glitter gets everywhere.

She opens her mouth to open another comm before she blinks. She frowned a bit. “The science labs are without power and probably wont receive the coms… I guess I need to call the CSO…” She said before opening up a room comm. =^=Engineering to Lt. Petrakos, There is an issue with the power to the Science labs and Medbay… it seems that a purple glittery gelatinous substance has consumed the junction to the areas and is consuming power from the junction, this power consumption seems to be converted into energy that it uses to replicate itself. Have you ever encountered such a creature or substance?=^=

Sinclair thought for a moment and then looked at Maria. “If it’s gelatenaous… what if we flooded the area with refrigerant? Maybe we can freeze it.”

Maria looked thoughtful. “Maybe, however I would be afraid for the electrical components and for Huzzen. If we could lead ot to a section and seal the section off then I would be more ready to agree to it.” She said giving a small nod.
