Maria stepped off of the turbolift onto the corridor of deck 7. The Trill woman wondered around al.ost aimlessly before she found herself standing infront of the door to the Head Psychiatrist’s office. She staired at the door for a moment then tilted her head before a lighbulb went off in her head. She raised her ahnd and pressed her finger to the door chime to announce her presence before she let it fall back to her side.

Maria hear a voice behind her. “The Chief of Psychiatry doesn’t have any more appointments scheduled today. Is she expecting you?”

HARLEEN

Maria about faced quickly and then blinked. “Um… yes? I don’t know if she is expecting me at this second… but I do know that my speaking to her, or another head of psychiatry is necessary and required as part of my medical evaluations that must be conducted during the new arrival’s onbording. As I have already been cleared physically by the Drs. on board, I too need one more approval before I am able to go to my department and begin to take over it as the new Department Head.” The woman clearly startled blurted out as she explained her entire reason for being there.

“I thought someone was in here…two someone’s,” Mariah quickly corrected, taking note of HARLEEN. It might’ve seemed strange for her to consider a hologram a person, but it felt stranger to do anything else. “Surra, I mean Dr. A, went home for the day. May I be of assistance? I’m Dr. Mariah Grayson.”

Maria turned towards the woman who walked up. She smiled and nodded. “Yes we were just discussing why I am here. Hello, I am Maria. I’m here for the onboarding evaluation to make sure I’m not a psychopath suddenly and fit to take duty as the Chief Engineer on this ship.” She said in quite a friendly tone towards the Dr. her smile never waivered and she held up her hand. “I’m sorry.” She gave a soft chuckle and her smile turned slightly apologetic. “I am here for the psych eval thought.”

Grayson smiled and pretended to stroke her chin like an old fashion Freud. “Don’t ever feel the need to apologize for having a sense of humor. You are going to be responsible for keeping us running, which I’m sure is no easy feat. I’d say a sense of humor is absolutely essential for that job and just about any other.” Grayson suddenly realized she had forgotten to introduce . “Forgive me, I’m Dr. Mariah Grayson. Maria and Mariah.. we are practically a comedy troupe already,” she added with a chuckle. “Care to follow me?”

IC: Maria nodded. “Indeed on all accounts Dr. Now all we need to do is either bad cop good cop, or wisewoman, and wisecracker.” She chuckled then gave a warm smile and gestured onward. “After you Dr. Grayson. I would happily follow.”

Grayson chuckled. ” A sense of humor is essential for getting through any task.” She gestured for the engineer to take her lead. “I promise not to keep you long, but it will be nice to get to know each other.”

Maria nodded her agreement whole heartedly. “It will take as long as it takes. If we get to enjoy the ride then who says we shouldn’t?” She asked a wide grin still on her face.

It didn’t take long for the two women to arrive at Grayson’s office where she gestured for Maria to take a seat anywhere she would like. ” So, psychological evaluation’s have been that bad? I mean, has it really been like playing bad cop to the therapist’s good?”

Maria shook her head side to side almost violently. “Not at all Dr. Just playing on the the comedy troupe.” She admitted. “Just trying to break the ice a little. Sudden meetings like this can be awkward even if they are somewhat planned. There is much I am adjusting to. I find myself in positions today that I would have never thought I would be in, not in a millennia.”
