“I know it did… But you didn’t have to do that.” Solal looked at Achilleas with that look of his. “I would’ve done it… eventually.” He yawned and shook his head. “This disease is affecting my brain in a way that makes falling and staying asleep difficult.” The couple of hours he had gotten, had him looking better than he had before.

“Then I’d say the experiment was a drowsing success!” Achilleas declared triumphantly. “That makes me think we should get you either a body pillow or a weighted blanket. It might help you sleep better.”

CSO Petrakos

“A ‘drowsing’ success?” Solal asked, giving Achilleas a look. It wasn’t a question, but a statement, pointing out the lameness of that pun assuming it was intentional. He considered the idea and then shrugged, “I’m not sure either of those would work when the cause of my insomnia is my body attacking and damaging my brain… But I suppose it depends on how they are supposed to work.”

Achilleas met Solal’s look and rhetorical question with a smile. “The weighted blanket would simulate being hugged and your own body heat would provide the warmth. The body pillow is what you could hug. All in all maybe they would help provide better sleep despite the medical issues. Though a sedative from medical would be much better.”

CSO Petrakos

“Given the data from the…” He had to almost gag saying it, “hug experiment, the weighted blanket or body pillow idea might work. A sedative every night isn’t that good for you.” The last one was of course, an excuse. It didn’t explain why he hadn’t asked medical for one even once, nor why he couldn’t simply ask once in a while to be sure he was getting some sleep.

Achilleas nodded while he was still smiling. “It’s something to try and if it doesn’t work you won’t be out anything but the effort and time. Though if that’s unsuccessful we might have to brainstorm another approach. How would you feel about me hugging you to sleep each night?”

CSO Petrakos

Solal gave him a look. “You need to sleep, too. Not be here every night.” He eyed Achilleas, trying to think. “You have been here a lot… How much care of yourself are you taking?”

Achilleas’ smirk faltered for a moment before he gave a shrug. “I’m taking good care of myself. The Captain keeps checking up on me and has directed that I use a half hour a day on something relaxing. Seeing as how I don’t want that to be an order, or that she would have me do more counseling, I’ve been abiding by it.”
