She wanted to back out and in reality all she would have had to do was message Sinclair and ask to try another evening. Dira could have given almost any excuse and it would have actually be true, but she also knew that right now she needed to be present around the crew as they worked through this transition. So even if she wasn’t in the mental space to be social, Dira could suck it up because in actual fact she really did want to get to know this man who would be her support and command partner.

Having arrived only a minute ago, Dira was still in uniform but her jacket was off and draped on the back of her chair. She sipped on a glass of water while she waited to Sinclair to arrive.

Sinclair was two minutes late, also still in uniform, but when he walked in he looked around for the Captain and smiled and made his way over; pausing once or twice to talk to someone that introduced themselves to the new XO. Finally taking a seat, he exhaled and said “Aye, but they dunnae tell ya ‘but the loads of reports that get heaped on ya the first few days, do they?” and he chuckled. “If they did, I’m guessin’ Command School’d be a lot less crowded.”
