Dira looked at Alisson and her gaze shifted. The sternness returned as she crossed her arms. “What I am going to do is exactly what is obvious in this situation. While we continue the investigation, Alisson Bonner, you will be confined to your quarters pending formal arrest charges. The exact charges laid against you will be laid out in due course, but assault on a member of my crew is taken very seriously indeed, as is harassment. What you failed to understand is that your behaviour on my ship towards my crew is not welcome or acceptable here, and there will be serious consequences. Should you attempt to circumvent your confinement, you will be immediately placed in the brig. Do you understand?”

Myqian gave a subtle gesture to Sinclair, whom she knew would have security return. For the moment she didn’t take her dark eyes off of Alisson.

Alisson didn’t answer, she stood there stunned not believing what she heard. Surely the stress had gotten to her. She began to splutter, “Wha…? I…you…confined?! I was defending myself!”

Dira gazed at Alisson with a dispassionate look. “I understand that that is what you want me to beleieve.” She tapped her head. “I happen to be a very strong telepath, Madame, and you have been lying your face off.” She was calm and matter of fact.

Sinclair simply stepped back a step so the door opened and he said simply “Lieutenant.” The Security officer appeared in the doorway and the XO said “On the orders of Captain Myqian, I order you to take Mrs. Bonner into custody. She will be confined to her quarters until the Captain decides otherwise. She may contact medical and her attorney, all other comms are restricted. If she makes even an attempt to leave her quarters without authorization, take her to the brig. If she protests, take her to the brig. If she is anything other than cooperative, take her to the brig. And send a team to Sickbay. Once Lieutenant Commander Kane is done with what he is doing, have him escorted here without delay.”

The Lieutenant looked outside and said “Volk. Bakjer. On me.” and in a few seconds the other two Security officers were next to him. He looked at Allsion and said “Ma’am. If you would come with us. Now.”

Alisson looked at the security Lt like she didn’t know what he was saying. She turned on Anthony. “This…this is ALL your fault. You did this! You and that [BEEP] brat. You are both so WORTHLESS.” Alisson was spitting she was so mad. It only made her look crazier with all the flour, dough, and mess that was all over her. “You just wait Anthony. I’ll make you regret ever meeting me!”

For the first time since he answered the door Anthony spoke to her. His voice was genuinely sad and he shook his head. “I will never regret meeting you Alisson. You gave me my daughter.” Alisson couldn’t stand it anymore. “You were supposed to chose ME over that abysmall disappointment!” She rushed across the room with all intentions of doing bodily harm to the man.

The force of Alisson’s anger was enough that Dira actually flinched. It was a momentary distraction but she also knew that others were in the room that could handle the raging woman.

Sinclair moved with a speed that was wholly unnerving for a man his size. He positioned himself between Anthony and the Captain, and the rushing form of Allsion Bonner… who ran directly into him and struck him instead of Anthony. The blow did nothing to the big Scot, who simply snapped “Security! Restrain Mrs. Bonner and take her directly to the brig!” The Security team was on her and within a few seconds had her under control and in restraints. They moved her out of the room and Sinclair looked at Myqian. “Captain, with your permission, I will write up the charges against Mrs. Bonner and add assault on a Command Officer during the peformance of their duties.”

Myqian nodded. “I’ll stay here for the time being but I do want to check on our patient soon.”

Taking a deep breath, she let Sinclair handle things and turned to Anthony, drawing closer. “Are you okay?” she asked, her expression full of compassion.

Captain Myqian, CO

As soon as the door closed, Anthony sank into the desk chair, covered his face with his hands, elbows on the desk and just breathed for several long minutes. Finally he took a deep breath and lowered his hands. “I apologize, Captain, for bringing her onto your ship. I…I didn’t realize…or maybe I just didn’t want to see…how sick she was.”

Dira turned and grabbed a dining chair and set it in front of Bonner, sitting and leaning forward. “We all have our blind spots. And sometimes we need them because they keep us safe from things we’re not ready to deal with. She’s a master manipulator, Commander. And the narcissistic rage she’s displayed is textbook. I know you feel guilty and will even if I tell you you do not need to. But I will tell you that you did nothing wrong. She made her choices. I’m just so sorry that both you and Alexis have had to deal with that. And you should also know she didn’t have me fooled for a second. In addition to being a strong telepath, I was also a psychiatrist for 20 years…” she said, a gleam appearing in her eyes. He needed to know that she believed him and Alexis and hadn’t been swayed by Alisson’s stories.

“I appreciate the reassurance, Captain. I do.” Anthony scrubbed his face with one hand, wiping down from his forehead past his chin and then leaned back in the chair with a dejected sigh. “I sent Alexis away at 17 to serve on a star ship, alone, without her parents. She was miserable at home and I knew it would only get worse. So I let her go. I missed 10 years of my daughter’s life. After 10 years, Alisson started talking about how much she missed her, she wanted to see her, talking about the good stuff. I thought…maybe it would be better. But it wasn’t Alexis she missed, it was the ideal dream she’d created in her head.” He shook his head, “I let my own desire to see her cloud my judgement.”

Anthony

“No one wants to believe the worst about someone, especially someone we have built a life with. And now things have revealed themselves more clearly and you’ll have to work through that.” Dira offered him a smile. “But you know what’s really fantastic? You have a place in your daughter’s life now, and you have a new son as well. Grieve the parts you need to grieve, but don’t lose sight of what you’ve gained. You’ll all figure it out together.”

Anthony laughed, so hard he had tears, when Myqian said he had a son now. The only thing Anthony could think of was that if Kane didn’t want him around he’d feed him to beatles and let a gecko eat the beatles. He started to laugh harder. It was happy laughter and it felt good. “Oh God, do you know how incredibly lucky those two are to have found each other? I don’t even want to do the math, they probably would though.” Using a pinky he wiped the corner of his eye. “Oh…have you seen them together? I mean relaxed, off duty, just being themselves? It’s scary and absolutely fascinating.”

Dira sat up and took a deep breath. “You’re more than welcome to stay on the Ogawa as long as you need. If someone from Personnel starts to make a fuss, send them my way,” she said, her eyes glittering.

“Thank you Captain. I really do appreciate it. I have some decisions to make before I leave. There are several options available to me. It is very tempting to stay awhile, but no newly married couple needs their parents hanging around, and I’d go a bit crazy if I didn’t have something to do.”

She chuckled slightly. “I understand. Let me know if there’s anything you need on our end though.”

Sinclair had been quiet, diligently creating the needed documentation for the charges, when his comms activated. =/\= Security to XO. Sir… uh… we picked up Lieutenant Commander Kane, sir. And he… um… well, sir… he demanded he be taken to the brig pending the investigations conclusion. He has been confined in the brig, Commander. =/\= Sinclair’s eyebrows rose and he looked at Dira. “Okay… thats two firsts for the day. Is it normally like this, Captain? Or did you do all this to make me feel needed?”

“Is it working?” Myqian deadpanned.

“I’ve never felt more wanted.” he said with a hint of humorous sarcasm as he handed her the PaDD for review and approval.

She inhaled deeply and shook her head. “That is an exceptionally bad idea. I don’t care if they are in separate cells, there’s no good that can come from him being in there. Baiting her won’t make her change.” And she could fully imagine the ways Kane would try to undermine the woman, but the thing was that even if she could in fact hit a rock bottom, as it were, only a small percentage of people with her particular issues actually make meaningful changes in their life. It was more likely to fuel more rage.

“Agreed.” her XO said. “I will go and dismantle that particular explosive situation. I know you are worried about Frigga. Go, Captain. I’ll deal with Mr. Kane and company.” He looked at Anthony and inclined his head slightly. “Sir. I am sorry the situation has devolved into this. If you need anyone to talk to, my door is always open.” He glanced at Dira and said “Captain.” and he turned and left the room.

Anthony shook his head. “There is nothing for you to apologize for, though I do appreciate the sentiment. Thank you, Cmdr. I appreciate the offer.” He did not envy that man attempting to deal with Alisson and a very very pissed off Kane.
