USS Ogawa
Between a Million Yesterdays and Tomorrows
The Ogawa was undergoing some significant changes and the psychiatrists on the ship had been busier than ever. Commander Taylor’s departure had been unexpected, sudden, and difficult for some of the crew. Not to mention the transition to a new Command team pushed through change that was welcomed by many but caused some anxiety among some of the more senior officers aboard the ship. For these officers, a new Command team meant new processes and possibly new rules, but Surra and her team also ensured them that change was good and change often meant new opportunities.
As the crew began to settle into their new normal, it was not lost on Surra that there was one person on the Ogawa whom she had to check in with. The transitions on the ship had happened so fast that Surra had not gotten a chance to follow up and ensure that she was proving the best support she could. Her steps were soft and quiet as she approached Commander Dira’s Ready Room, holding her PaDD, and dressed in lime green pant uniform. She placed the hand that held the PaDD behind her back as she rang the chime with the other to announce her arrival. She didn’t expect the Commander to have an extempore session with her but she did intend to assess how she was holding up as she worked through her past trauma from her encounter with Franks and as she took command of the Ogawa. The great thing about being the Chief of Psychiatry is that she always had an excuse to pay the Commander an impromptu visit and subtly suggest that she come to see her for a few sessions.
