Kane tapped the comms in his and Alexis’s quarters. It was now or never… and the fact that Anthony was coming made him actually smile a bit. What made him smile even more was that Allison would lose her shit about it.

=/\= Kane to Myqian. Need a few minutes of your time. Alexis and I wanna get married. As in right now. Where you wanna meet us? =/\=

Kane, R&D

Inwardly chuckling to herself, Dira wondered why she was so surprised at the suddenness of the decision when she really shouldn’t be. =/\=Give me fifteen minutes and I’ll meet you on Deck Two in the Observation Lounge. Dress pretty now,=/\=she said, clearly teasing.

=/\= I’m always pretty. None of you have any style. =/\= came the curt response and Kane shut off the comms. “Lex! You ready? Fifteen minutes. Observation Deck. Where’s your dad?” he yelled into the bedroom. He pulled up the monitor that showed him where Allison was. Her quarters, good. He surreptitiously locked the door so she couldn’t get out and then finished closing up his dress uniform tunic.

Kane

Alexis huffed as she walked out of the bedroom in her dress tunic, black pencil skirt, and knee high boots. Everyone had an opinion.

Anthony chuckled, “Right here waiting for you two.” He walked over and hugged Alexis, “You are always pretty.” Alexis rolled her eyes hard enough to knock the ship off its calibration. “You’re mybfather, you are required to think that.” Anthony just chuckled harder.

“Come on, before someone asks either of you to solve an intriguing puzzle.” Anthony grinned. Oh his daughter was likely to get distracted first, but he had watched Kane work all week. A good puzzle was just as intriguing to him. He shooed them out the door of their quarters and paused, “Come on Frigga, you too.” The dog barked and bounded after to them to the turbolift.

Bonner and Bonner

Fortunately, her choice of the Observation Lounge was very convenient given it was on the same deck as her quarters meant she didn’t have far to go in order to change and be at the destination. Dira had changed into her dress uniform, slipping her pips onto the V-neck jacket. She arrived at the spacious room before the others and set a small table to one side in front of the expanse of windows and set a chair beside it. She carried two PADDs and a vase of flowers, setting the flowers on the table along with one of the PADDs. The flowers were a mix of Terran roses, Betazoid iima lilies and Vulcan orchids. From the crook of her arm she set a bottle of sparkling wine and a bottle of sparkling juice and set them behind the flowers. They might not have asked for a party, but she wanted to have something ready to make it special in some way.

Standing by the windows, Dira waited, exuding calmness.

Kane was the first to step off and said to the man behind him “No, I locked her door. She’ll have to get Engineering down there to help her and called in a favor. They’ll wait an hour before they come to fix it.”

Anthony should not find that funny, but he did. Frigga, seeing another one of her ‘friends’ bounded into the room to greet her. Then she bounded back. Alexis glanced at the table, so much for it being whatever they wanted. Alexis got nudged in the arm and she glanced back and her father was giving her that look. The one that told her to be polite and thankful. As if he knew what her mind was thinking. She was suddenly very glad that Solomon was right, again. She was very glad her father was there.

Kane’s hair was tied back out of his face and he looked at Myquian and the the table. He shook his head and then looked back at Alexis. “Last chance. Run while you can.” he said with a smirk.

Kane

Alexis gave him a look like he had said something insane and then smiled at him. “Like that would even work, if I was inclined to do something so incredibly misconcieved, and I am not.”

Then she turned to Myqian. “Captain Myqian, my father, Lt Cmdr Anthony Bonner.” Anthony stepped forward and offered his hand, “A pleasure, Cpt.,” and then stepped back.

Bonner, AMO

“It’s nice to meet you,” Dira said. She turned to the couple. “So, how do you want to do this? I have the standard civil ceremony we’re given, but it can be whatever. The only requirements we have to satisfy are an exchange of vows, whether scripted or free form, a declaration from my that you’re married and then you have to sign,” she said, gesturing to the PADD on the table.

Kane looked at Myqian and then at Alexis. “I can handle some vows, I think. You?” he asked. They hadn’t planned on anything, so ‘free form’ was probably the way to go.

Kane

Alexis stared at him and in his ear he heard, “你想让我在人们面前表现得情绪化，而且......而且糊涂?” WHY was this suddenly complicated again? Yeah sure, okay she could handle that, and if she screwed it up and disappointed him, well it was his idea. “I can handle that,” she sounded a lot more confident than she felt.

Bonner, AMO

Dira nodded. “Well, I wasn’t expecting to get to perform this particular honour anytime soon, but let’s do this, shall we?” She lifted the Padd and checked the wording. “We are gathered here today to witness the formal joining of Solomon Kane and Alexis Claire Bonner in the legal state of matrimony.” She looked to Kane. “What vows do you make to this person beside you?”

Kane was silent for a long time. He just stood in place, thinking. And then he turned and looked at Alexis.

“Lex…” he began, “… I have hated almost every single moment I have been here.” He knew the three other people in the room would know what he was talking about. “Getting here was pain. It was… indescribable pain. And getting through that just to wind up here seemed like some kind of sick joke. I have hated almost every moment, every person, every single instance of just existing here. It was always off. Just enough to keep me remembering that I didn’t belong here.” He tookna deep breath. “And then I met you. And you irritated me in a whole new way. And somehow, I really don’t know or care how, you made this place tolerable. And then you made it not suck. And then you made it amazing. And I would happily go through all if that again just be standing right here, right now, in the place… with you. I love ya, Lex. And I’ll love you and only you no matter what universe I’m in.”

He reached in his pocket and pulled out a ring… tiritanium, with a serial number on the inside. It was the part number from that first experiment they did together. He took her hand and slid the ring on her finger, squeezing it gently.

Dira smiled warmly at both of them before focusing on Bonner. “Alexis, what vows do you make to this person beside you?”
