She hadn’t been joking when she told Kane today was already filling up and most of it had nothing to do with what had been on her to-do list when she got up this morning. Then again she hadn’t been expecting to be promoted.

As she made her way down the corridor, she passed a few of the scientists, who offered their congratulations and she accepted them with a smile. It was still weird, but a good weird. She’d adjust.

Stepping into the physics lab, Myqian spied her quarry and she made her way over, careful not to sneak up on him accidentally. “Well, I don’t know how your day is going, but mine is certainly interesting.”

Achilleas looked up from a display graph on a theoretical scenario of a trinary star systems energy flow and degradation mechanics to see the XO, no he supposed she was the CO now as he vaguely remembered the all hands message, and gave her a tired wave. He had a bit of dark circles around his eyes and while not completely unkempt looking his uniform had some wrinkles to it. If Dira was to feel his surface emotions they would be tired, concerned, and strangely motivated to keeping busy with something.

Dira was wearing the headband, but she didn’t need her psi abilities in order to assess the state of the scientist. For a moment she was worried about this little plan of hers.

“Captain.” He offered a warm, if slightly unenergetic smile. “Congratulations on the promotion, though the circumstances seem like they could have been better. My day is going… alright, I suppose. Just running some simulations to keep myself busy. I’d thought about officially getting my PhD and the Ogawa’s computing power puts a lot of laboratories to shame, so I figured why not take advantage of a resource most scientists would figuratively kill for.”

She pulled a stool over and sat at his side, facing Achilleas. “Thank you. And if I may say you look like you could use some more sleep. Are you alright?”

Achilleas laughed a bit ruefully. “I think I’m doing okay. I’m still adjusting to being back aboard the Ogawa and catching up on all of the changes that have or are happening is a little off putting.” He turned in his seat to face Dira directly. “Some of that hits a little more personally though. I’m sure you are aware of Solal Segal and his current medical leave. Well he and I are really good friends and seeing him in such a state was shocking and a bit despair inducing.” He cleared his throat before changing topics. “I’m sure you’re not taking time out of your clearly busy schedule just to check up on me though. What can I help you with Captain?”
