The doors to sickbay slid open and truly large human man walked in. Pushing seven feet in height and close to three hundred pounds, Comma der Royal Sinclair was an imposing figure… or would be if it wasn’t for the calm and almost serene look on his face. It was that look that made eye contact with the nurse as he walked in. He smiled and said “Good morning. I am the new Executive Officer, Commander Sinclair. I was hoping to get my boarding physical knocked out and maybe meet with the CMO if they have any time available.”Sinclair, XO
The nurse handling intake that morning looked up and gave a reassuring smile. “Good morning Cmdr. My name is Xavier. Welcome to the Ogawa. If you’ll follow me.” The man, looked human except for his slightly pointed ears, turned and waived toward the main bay. “I haven’t seen Dr Walker yet this morning, but Dr. Bonner, the AMO, is here. Have a seat, and I’ll go get her for you.”
Xavier flipped on the bed and keyed in his name and shook his head. “Looks like the computer hasn’t caught up with the transfer orders. Alright, be right back.”
Xavier disappeared through a door into another ward. 2 minutes later a woman entered in a new white medical uniform with Lt Cmdr pips and blue lab coat. Her hair was twisted up into a very messy bun, held in place by 3 or maybe 4 styluses. She dropped a PaDD into one pocket of her coat and looked up as she stopped in front of him. “Cmdr Sinclair. I am Dr Bonner.” She pulled out a tricorder from her other pocket. “Do you have any immediate concerns?”
Sinclair smiled and said “A pleasure. Doctor. Nice ta meet ya.” His Scottish brogue was deep and pronounced, but he was easily understood. “And no. No changes since my last exam. Just a bit of fatigue from the trip out. I don’t sleep deeply when I have an Admiral in the room next to me, I guess.” and he laughed.
Bonner removed the hand scanner and moved it over him. The joke seemed to go right over her head. “I suggest avoiding caffeine after 1500 hours for the next three days until you have adjusted to the ship’s schedule.” =/\=GALEN please access Star Fleet Medical and pull the records for Cmdr Sinclair. I don’t want to wait for them to get around to it.=/\=
=/\=RIGHT AWAY DR BONNER.=/\=
A dog exited the room she came from a moment later. It was a tricolor Icelandic sheepdog. It paused, spotted the doctor, and then padded over and sat next to the biobed.
Bonner, AMO
Sinclair looked at the dog and smiled. “Aye, heya pup. Ya keepin’ an eye on things for evry’body?” and reached down, held his palm to the dog’s snout so she could smell him,and then scratched her chin.
Sinclair. XO
Frigga sniffed and her tail wagged happily. She gave a soft yip as if confirming his assessment of her job. She glanced at Bonner and whined which caused the doctor to glance at the canine. “No, I haven’t finished my scans yet.”
=/\=DISPLAYING CMDR SINCLAIR’S MEDICAL RECORD ON DISPLAY 2. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN DO?=/\=
“Yes GALEN, please inform Dr Walker that the new XO is here and wishes to see him.” There was a soft computerized affirmative trill, and wherever Walker happened to be at the time GALEN delivered the message. Meanwhile Bonner finished her scan. “You have a higher respiratory function and muscle density. You exercise regularly? A close contact sport perhaps? Ogawa has a full gym and a plethora of holodeck programs for a wide range of abilities. Part of our patient recovery programs. There should be something for your requirements.” Bonner didn’t wait for an answer just rattled off the information as she compared his scans with his previous exam. Seeming to suddenly remember the dog she looked down, “This is Frigga. She’s our all around assistance, therapy, and morale dog. Go ahead.” Frigga stood and looked up at the man, tail wagging, waiting for permission.
Bonner, AMO
Sinclair looked at Bonner for a moment, and then a small nod seemed to indicate he realized something. “I can do that. And yes, I play rugby. I’ll see if there’s a simulation for that.” He looked down at the dog and said “Whats up, pup?” and he patted his thigh.
Sinclair, XO
Frigga didn’t need to be invited twice. She leapt up onto the biobed and sat staring at him and waited. The steak-keeper called her ‘pup’ too, so this had to be a good thing.
Bonner glanced at the biobed readings. She was always curious about Frigga’s affect on people. Not just emotionally, but physiologically. How her behavior and presence affected things like heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration, but also hormone levels as well. It was fascinating. She tapped away at the computer then picked up a PaDD, “Xavier.” The nurse walked over and took the PaDD.
“I see nothing here of concern, Cmdr.” Bonner said, turning back to him. “I’ve signed off, clearing you for duty. Xavier said you wanted to speak with Dr Walker. Is there anything I can answer or do for you before he arrives?”
