“No, you’ve already been promoted. I’m just the cherry on top of the sundae. Now stand up.” she said a started to get to her feet.

Dira was still processing and it took her a moment to follow suit and stand, coming to attention.

“Pinning these little dots on is hard enough standing, if I do it while you’re sitting down I’ll probably end up copping a feel and that will make this whole exchange really awkward.” Sinclair chuckled as he stood and pulled a small red box from his pocket and slid it down the table. The Admiral snagged it and opened it up. “Dira Myqian, your hereby promoted to the rank of Captain and are ordered to take command of the Federation starship USS Ogawa, NCC registry six-four-two-eight-four, as its Commanding Officer. Congratulations, Captain. We have every faith you will be a true asset to the Fleet and to your crew.”

“Thank you, Admiral,” Myqian said with a genuine smile.

Sinclair said “Congratulations, Captain. And I look forward to serving with you… event if you objected to me at first.” and he chuckled.

Dira chuckled. “I wasn’t objecting to you personally. Just the prospect of being ousted,” she said with a wink.

She let out a breath and returned her attention to the Admiral. “Do you have further orders for us, Admiral?” They still had their VIP patient but that didn’t mean the ship would necessarily be idle.

Captain Myqian, CO

“Yeah… move your crap so this man can get settled. He’s got a lot to catch up on. Oh, yeah… GALEN, open a shipwide comm.” =/\= Open, Admiral. =/\= She smiled at Myqian. =/\= All hands, this is Admiral Sret of Star Fleet Command. It is with great pride I get to inform you that Commander Myqian has been promoted to Captain and has just assumed command of the Ogawa. Your new XO is aboard as well. You are in good hands. That is all. =/\=

She looked at Dira and said “Ok. I gotta bounce. I’m picking up one Petty Officer Free. Their transfer was already done a few weeks ago, but they get to fly me back. Questions, Captain?”

Admiral Sret

She shook her had. “No, Ma’am. I’ll have the petty officer waiting for you at the Shuttlebay.” Dira gave a bow of her head. “Safe travels, Admiral.”

Dira waited till Admiral Sret had left (clearly not wanting or needing an escort) and she took her seat again, gesturing to Sinclair to sit. “Well, then. I guess I can say a proper ‘welcome aboard the Ogawa. You’ll have to forgive me as my brain catches up a little here. I also know very little about you, so by all means fill me in, ask me questions, wherever you want to start,” she said with a laugh and slight sigh.

Captain Myqian, CO

Sinclair took a seat to her left and said “Well, I’ve actually had a chance to look at your file, Captain, so maybe it’d be a bit better if we start with me… you know, so ya know what you’re gettin’ into.” and he chuckled.

He tookna breath and said “My career has been… unique… to say the least. I started off in Security, that was my division out of the Academy. I was promoted after my Cadet cruise on the Challenger to Lieutenant JG and named the CoS of that ship. It 2as during my tenure there that I trained in some mediation and negotiation, and it was determined by someone somewhere that I had a talent for it and I should pursue training as a Counselor. I actually ended up getting a dual doctorate, one in Psychology with an emphasis on Counseling and one in xeno-sociology. I was then transferred to the Saracen as their Security Chief, but was then made their Counselor… and then the Chief Tactical Officer. After that particular merry-go-round, I applied to Command School.” and he laughed heartily. “I figured if I was going to be the Fleet’s token gap-stop, I may as well make myself as versatile as I can!” and he laughed again.

“Well, I graduated a little over a week ago… and here I am.”
