Another sip, followed by a grimace. “I did. And in theory, it’s about as bad as a pre-warp civilization after a major natural disaster, the only mollifying factors being the fact that they do have shelter, however tenuous, and power, most of the time. So they have some of the tools they need, most of the time, but far too much demand for those tools, and the people wielding them.”

Great willow thought.

Another sip. “Honestly, even with all the resources of this ship, plus the two new docs the Hippocrates was bringing especially for that clinic, we might be hard-pressed for a while.”

With a nodd Willow took a sip of her own drink. “Noted. We will be arriving soon. We can get a first hand impression from the team there, find out what they want and need and consider our approach. If we need to land the module to give us a hand then we can see about that.”

She sipped again. “How was the trip incidently?”

Brad let out an exasperated half-hour sigh and rolled his eyes. “Gods save me from young, eager, earnest young doctors attracted to ‘experience ‘!”

“Oh yeah experience was all they were attracted to. ” she smirked and his her smile in her drink.

He took a sip of his drink with one hand, running the other through his hair. “I’m almost old enough to be their father, but that didn’t stop either of them from coming on to me stronger than a Klingon bodybuilder on steroids. I had to spend half the trip hiding from them.”

This made her laugh out loud and choke slightly on her drink. “Oh dear. Do you think you can deal with them as part of the department?”

“Oh, that’s not going to be a problem,” Brad said. “We’re leaving them here to do a full tour with the clinic. I just have to avoid them until we break orbit, and pray they don’t go AWOL by stowing away here in my closet.”

Willow choked fully that time. “Your closet. Well that’s a good idea I guess, maybe they think you should settle down.” She smiled. “ some Chicks did the older guy vibe you know,”
