As ordered, Savel stopped what he was doing and quickly jogged toward the lab’s storage room to take the said science kit. As usual, the Vulcan remained unexpressive and calm, his training in emergency response was part of Vulcan’s education to control emotions, and before the given time was done, Savel was waiting for Kane outside the labs near the door, steady as a statue.

Lieutenant Savel

Given the explosion, Kane materialized just outside the doors to Shuttlebay 1.

~Helpful Systems

=/\= GALEN, status report on the bay. =/\= Kane said and dropped the bag to the deck and put his hand on the doors to feel for heat. He looked around the doors for warping or buckling of the bulkhead… sure signs of explosive decompression on the other side.

Kane, CSO/R&D

The doors were cold to the touch and seemed intact.

=/\=Chemical explosion detected from Shuttle Kios. Fire suppression systems standing by. Personnel lifesigns stable, though unconscious.=/\=

~GALEN

Kane reached down in the bag and pulled out a mask with a small canister attached to it. He placed it over his nose and mouth and adjusted the face cover so he could see clearly. As he did so, he said =/\= GALEN, can you identify the compound released and tell me the number of life signs in the bay. =/\=

Kane, CSO / R&D

Bonner and the rest of the team from Beta sickbay came around the corner, joined by several other members from other departments, some on duty and some off duty. Seeing Kane already at the doors did not surprise her. What she saw first was the mask and reached into her kit for her own, ordering everyone else to do the same. She turned to the nearest doctor, “Solal set up a medic station out of the way of the doors and access points for the wounded. Emergency kits are stored behind that panel there,” and she pointed at a panel to the left the next section down. She approached Kane listening to his request to GALEN and waiting for the response. Then motioned for several other members in front of her. “Whatever Cmdr Kane tells you to do, you do it.” Alexis was of course trained for such situations, as was anyone who showed up, but Kane had far more experience than anyone else there. She walked over to the nearest LCARS panel and pulled up the security feeds of the shuttle bay to get a visual on what was going on and locations of people and hazards.

Bonner, AMO

Bonner could see that the one shuttle door had blown off the four officers had been near enough to be caught by the moderate explosion. There was a bit of smoke, but no active fire.

=/\=Sensors are detecting traces of silver nitride and ammonia. Four lifesigns are present.=/\=

OOC: Sorry, had to change the chemicals present. I think that works, but if not, oh well, we’re going with it. I spent too much time researching chemical explosions and all I can say is Writer’s Search History be Weird

~GALEN

“I don’t see any active fire from the angle of the feed, but smoke. Looks like the shuttle door blew and,” she watched the screen as she relayed the information, “caught 4 people in the blast. Starboard side of center in the bay.”

She moved toward the group and checked the mask of each person’s, including Kane’s, to make sure it was secure before the doors opened. Then she moved out of the way, she would be coordinating between the team and everyone else, unless she was needed in the bay. One of the nurses checked her own mask.

Kane looked at the assembled medical team. “Do not touch a thing inside until I give the all clear. When, and only when I say you can move someone do you move them… and then you go back exactly the same way you came in. Step where I say step, and don’t move anything.” He then turned and said =/\= GALEN, open the doors. =/\=

Kane, CSO / R&D

There was a round of “understood” from each person on the team and then they grew quiet again waiting for the doors to open.

Bonner

The doors opened and the scene appeared exactly as they expected, with the door of Shuttle Kios blown off the vessel. One of the security guards was pinned underneath and the others had clearly been in close enough proximity to be caught in the blast. Smoke emanated from the shuttle from electrical components that were destroyed in the explosion.

Commander Myqian, XO

While he wasn’t used to the gas mask, Savel could still have a pretty large field of vision, and he immediately saw the man blocked under the shuttle door. “Over here, Commander”, he said while pointing toward the blocked man. He was sure his Vulcan strength would be of good use in this critical situation.

Lieutenant Savel

From the downed officer’s comms sounded the COS from the Command Centre.

=/\= Haven to Security Teams. It looks as though the shuttles are booby trapped. Exercise extreme caution in your examinations and be prepared for more.=/\=

Haven, CoS

Kane grunted as the message was relayed. “Little late, Chief…” he mumbled through the comms as he stepped inside. He moved with a methodical precision that seemed almost as if he had rehearsed it. In his hand he carried a tricorder, but it wasn’t like any medical or science tricorder on the ship. It was scanning for things that were not only non-standard… but some were wholly strange and seemingly unrelated to an emergency medical situation. Multi-specrrum compound analysis was running along side a veritable plethora of other tests: fragment distribution, metallurgical analysis, thermal imaging, viral and bacteriological cross-checking, thermodynamic overlays, and broad spectrum contaminant sampling was being done via a holographic interface displayed in three dimensions above the hand-held scanner. Kane seemed to follow all of the threads visually while moving slowly and methodically through the blast area.

Soon, he reached the first of the injured. “Alright, two in here with me. Stay on this path.” and he reached up and touched the display and flicked his fingers to the right. A line of holographic light played out across the floor, illuminating a pathway from the door to the I Jared crew member.

Kane, CSO / R&D

Cirsik, a Benzite, and Ubev, Klingon. moved in following the path exactly. Cirsik slipped a mask over the man’s mouth and nose, then scanned his lungs adjusting the oxygen percentage to the mask. Ubev laid out an anti-grav stretcher beside the unconscious crewman. “Concussion, possible concussive injuries, burns to the left side of the body. Possible neck and spinal injuries. Swelling in lumbar region, could be muscular from impact, no open wounds,” Cirsik relayed through the comms back to Bonner. Treating him as if he had a back or neck injury, Ubev reached into her kit for a neck brace and set the stretch controls for a solid backboard. Then carefully, keeping his spine as still as possible they rolled/lifted him and slipped the stretcher underneath him. Their examination was fast but thorough. With the smoke and chemical gas and the threat of more explosions, the goal was to get him safely out as quickly as possible. The team waiting outside would take care of everything else. They secured the safety straps around him, engaged the anti-grav stabilizers, “We’re ready to take him out, Cmdr.”

Bonner

The blast did damage the shuttle bay door, but emergency shields still in place prevented any loss of life and decompression (OOC: Just syncing mine and Amber’s responses). The air scrubbers were working hard to clear the smoke and residual gas and what became apparent was that of the other auxiliary craft in the bay, all but one registered the same chemicals found in the blast residue. They couldn’t see whatever had caused the explosion, but likely they were on the inside of the vessels. There were no other signs of other hazards.

Commander Myqian, XO

“Take ‘em. Same path. Don’t touch anything.” Kane said over his shoulder. The blast came from inside, ok. “Moving to the next person. Send in the next stretcher team as soon as the other is out. Same path to this point then stop!” Kane yelled. He began running scans on the wounded, trying to triage and find the best way through the debris.

Kane, CSO / R&D

The one hit mostly directly by the blast that Cirsik and Ubev reached first was the most critically injured, but the other three security officers had mostly lacerations and abrasions. One had some burns to her arm and hand, but the other two had just been far enough away. The farthest one was even already starting to regain consciousness.

OOC: If you want me to detail out the specific injuries, I can but I’m also happy to let the med folks roll with it and have fun. No one is in danger of death, though the first man down is currently less stable.

Commander Myqian, XO

Solal was on the team waiting outside, ready to take the first patient to be brought out, the man with the chemical inhalation and blast injuries. The stretcher team had already started oxygen to him, that was good. Inhalation of silver nitride and ammonia meant potential corrosion of airways, nausea, dizziness, and headaches. He was breathing, so the oxygen should do for now, but he would need to be monitored and reassessed to ensure he was able to maintain his own airway. The other symptoms if he had them weren’t life threatening and could be treated when this patient was settled in sickbay.

Solal ran scans with his medical tricorder to check the extent of the injuries and their exact locations. No neck or spinal injuries, though the stretcher team was still right to have initiated c-spine precautions. A concussion, not bad enough to be too dangerous, but would likely make the patient rather uncomfortable. “I see no spinal trauma, but he does have a concussion.” Solal spoke quickly but calmly and clearly.

The blast had broken two of his ribs, bruised three more. Those would be treated in sickbay with a bone fuser. Various burns and lacerations finished off his list of injuries, a result of debris and shrapnel from the explosion. “We’re sending him to the burn unit, he’ll need time with the dermal regenerator and as soon as we can burn gel should be applied. Also have the bone fuser ready, two of his ribs are broken.” As he spoke, Solal was examining and bandaging the lacerations, making sure they were clean, and any bleeding was under control.

~ Solal

Alexis nodded to Solal. “As soon as you know he’s stable enough get a team to move him to sickbay.” She turned to the Vulcan science officer that had joined them.
“Lieutenant Savel, how are you with chemical compositions? Can you analyze the chemicals in the air and create a chemical neutralizer for it if necessary? The computer may be able to automatically scrub the air, but if not we want to be prepared. We’ll want to clear the air as soon as everyone is out, and before the repair teams go in.”

As the first team cleared the door way, the next team made their way in, following the same track and stopped when they reached the point Kane had indicated. “Ready when cleared, Cmdr.”
