“Enter,” Dira called out, her tone relaxed.
Her office wasn’t massive in any stretch of the imagination, but it was a bit more than a box. And it had a window, which was the bonus of being on Deck 1, which was small and most rooms had an exterior side. Her desk with two chairs on the other side sat in the corner facing towards the window, and there was a small sofa and arm chair in the opposite corner with a low table and a rug underneath with a leaf print all over. On the walls were her medical and psychiatry qualifications and a couple framed images of her with each of her parents
“Desk, or sitting area, your choice,” she said with a light smile, her ebony eyes assessing the man.

Kane took a seat on the sofa. “When you go to the Counselor, you get the couch. Only perk of the trip.” Kane said sarcastically, but with a small glint of mischief in the one eye not covered by hair. He cleared his throat and said “Listen, I… well… thanks for doing this.”

Dira had moved to her desk to the replicator. “Don’t thank me yet. Don’t assume because I’m all personable and we get along that I’m going to breeze through this. I’ve had many patients over the years assume that and it doesn’t go so well for them,” she said with a wink.
“I need coffee. Can I grab you anything?” she asked as she punched in the code for her standard black coffee with a hint of cardamom.
Commander Myqian, XO
“Always coffee.” Kane replied.
Myqian smiled and grabbed a coffee for him, moving over to the sitting area and setting it on the table before settling into the arm chair.
Kane shook his head. “Cards on the table. I hate having to do this. Its insulting. And demeaning. And it pisses me off to no end. Star Fleet trusts me enough to wear the uniform. Work on a star ship. Even direct others in an entire department. Not to mention doing the odd ‘extra curricular activity’ they ask for. But I have to be analyzed every month? By all the gods in hell, even the Captain only has to do it twice a standard year! And she has a hell of a lot more access and responsibility than I do.” and he fell back into the couch and glared.
“I know,” Dira said softly.
“I didn’t ask you to do this because I thought you’d let me slide. I asked because I trust you to do it right. Not like that pain in the ass psych chief.”

She sipped her coffee first before replying. “Yes, you two definitely seem to push each others’ buttons extremely well. It surprises people sometimes that not all therapists are a good fit for all people. That’s an impossible standard to meet and unfair to both the patients and the therapists. But let’s start at a base point and work our way from there. I’m curious what expectations, positive or negative, you walked into the first meeting with. We all have them. What were yours?”
Commander Myqian, XO
“That I… once again… had to stop what the hell I was doing to go tell yet another doctor about my ‘trip’.” Kane said with obvious irritation. “And that person would ask questions about how it felt, what happened, what it was like, why it happened… every. Single. F~<×ing. Thing. That. Is. Already. In. The. Damn. File.” and he sighed. “I’ve never lied about it, the words have never changed. In three freakin’ years it’s been the same.” He rubbed his face with hands and ran his hands through his hair and looked at Myqian. “Thats what I expected. And what I got was being told I’m not allowed to be upset in the Counseling suite. So… I left. Rescheduled, but did it in my office since I am allowed to be pissed off in there.” and he chuckled. “And the rest you saw.”
