Dira nodded. “I’ll just have to let it be what it is for now. I’m not overly worried about it. It was more just the confluence of events that have added to my issues.”

For a moment she considered how she was adjusting to her lack of abilities and the answer was still the same. “As for our little experiment, I think it’s helping give me the breather I needed in order to sort out what’s been happening with me. However, I don’t like it. Like I said earlier, I miss feeling connected to a place and the disconnection would be detrimental long term. I can handle a few days though. So yes, it’s making a difference, but we’re definitely not doing this for more than the four days we discussed.”

“Understood four days is the max,” she said with a nod of her head and a smile. “So as we move into day three, I want to close on that thought. Think, intuitively, about how not having your powers affects you and your work. Ponder on what has changed and what has not changed. Also, pay attention to the crew and I want you to determine if you notice anything different about them as well without having insights into their minds.

She nodded again. In the very least this was an interesting experiment and Dira was keen to make it worthwhile. “I shall use all my powers of observation,” she said with a small smile. As weird as this all was, Dira couldn’t help but feel that it would teach her a great deal. Besides, it was only four days. “Anything you want to cover today? If not I should probably get back to copious reports on my desk.”

“I think we are done for now. I feel like I am learning so much about telepathy through you. I can’t wait to find out what your observations uncover.” She placed her PaDD on her desk and said, “Tomorrow at the same time?”

“Yes, that’s fine with me,” Dira said as she rose to her feet. She should have just left right then, but ad odd thought came to mind that she felt the need to voice. “You know, I grew up on a planet with a wide variety of people. I never spent a lot of time on either of my people’s homeworlds so I’ve never been immersed in a society that was predominantly psi positive. So aside from my sometimes annoying inability to fully shield my mind, I don’t give my abilities much thought. Until now. There is an interesting perspective here that’s unfolding and I’ll guess we’ll see what comes of it.”
