Alexis looked down at Frigga and tried really hard to control the word ‘traitor’ from crossing her mind. Alexis had no idea that Myqian was unable to sense anything at the moment. She couldn’t really blame Frigga though, she loved people and most often thought she was lost and wanted to return her. “She wasn’t bothering you was she, Cmdr?”
There was a slight awkwardness in this situation that was enhanced because of the reason Frigga honed in on her in the first place, but Dira also new that part of getting through these few weird days was admitting that it was weird and awkward. She offered Solal and Alexis a genuine smile. “It’s… interesting so far. I hope I’m not intruding. Frigga seemed to pick up on the fact that I’m a bit out of sorts, and to be honest, I could use a distraction. Might I join you?” It was hard. She was the XO, so people were not really inclined to turn her down in this situation, but she also knew that if it was obvious that she was intruding she could just politely take her leave ad let people get on with whatever they had planned without her interference. She was hoping to make more friends on the ship, but she also knew that part of being higher up in the chain of command was the reality that it was just harder to be chummy with the majority of the crew. Or at least it seemed that way here so far.
Commander Myqian, XO
Solal gestured to an open seat at their table. “I don’t mind at all.” Solal was not particularly social, a workaholic who often simply retired to his quarters in the little free time he didn’t choose to spend working. It wouldn’t bother him at all for Myqian to sit with them. He didn’t mind she was the XO, senior officers were still people after all. But he also wasn’t very talkative and wasn’t sure how to continue the conversation.

Dira sat, setting her colourful surprise drink on the table, and reached over to pat Frigga, as much a thank you as anything. Did it bother her that her own distress was somehow apparent, even if only to the canine? Yes, it did. But then again her self-esteem had taken something of a beating recently and she was still trying to sort out the why of it. Add losing an entire sense wasn’t helping. “So, what are we up to this evening?” she asked, glancing between Solal and Alexis.
Commander Myqian, XO
Alexis was not going to tell the woman no. Alexis and the Cmdr didn’t get along, and Alexis was used to that - most people didn’t get along with her. Alexis preferred to not engage in small talk and pointless socialization, but it was something she was supposed to work on. So she nodded in agreement with Solal. After all she sat with him in order to make an effort to be more approachable to the medical staff she was in charge of. Learning to get along with the XO was going to have to be part of that. “Frigga and I are actually between appointments, so we stopped to eat.” Like Solal, Alexis was a work-a-holic.

Dira reached down to pat Frigga on the head with affection. In some ways the dog was now a touchstone for her when she didn’t have one, as strange as that was.
Frigga closed her eyes and sighed happily at the attention. When Myqian stopped she nosed her hand until she continued patting her.
Solal gestured toward his PaDD. “Old medical study game.” Other than that, he didn’t really have any plans. Check for a letter from V’alura, maybe. If not, then… read medical studies? End up working, maybe. Or just meditate and go to bed. His plans weren’t interesting. They never were. He gestured to Myqian’s drink. “I take it you’re up to… partaking in the drinking of alcholic beverages?” It wasn’t a judgement, but an observation.

She grinned. “Absolutely. It’s not often I can indulge and today seemed like a good day for it. Besides, no bridge duty for me for a couple more days, so less of an issue.” Never mind that she had indulged more recently than she had in awhile. It was exactly this sort of weird confluence of events that had her saying ‘Why Not?’ more often lately. Never mind that Kane had poured her those really strong drinks, enough that Bonner had felt it prudent to offer her her ‘cure’. Myqian’s fingers turned the colourful drink on the table. “Don’t know what it’s called as I asked for a surprise,” she said with a slight shrug, glancing between Solal and Alexis. Even though she was being social, her underlying unease was far too present for her own liking.
“What’s the study game?” Dia asked, nodding her head to PaDD.
Commander Myqian, XO
Alexis was actually interested to know what the game was. She had heard of a few when at the academy, but by the time she got there she already had her MD so much of her course work was basics required of all officers and then actually working at Medical command. And since some of the staff recently decided trading gossip was a productive use of their down time when ‘bored’ maybe she could give them this game. If it was challenging for Solal it should challenge the rest of the staff.

“It’s a text based medical scenario game… not too different from games in Earth’s early computer history. It gives you a medical scenario and you tell it what you would think or do. Then it tells you what happens based on your choices. Like a text play by play of a medical case based on historical medical cases. It’s nothing too interesting but it’s a better use of free time than reading fiction or something.” Solal explained, turning his PaDD on to show them.
