Taking the PaDD in hand, Dira skimmed the article and it was compelling evidence. She sighed. “I hate it when the evidence is so clear,” she said before breaking into a smirk. “It’s just short term, so I see no reason not to go all in. We’ll just have to monitor for side effects.”

“I hate that it’s come to this, but I just have so little energy for anything extra that requires me to filter and evaluate is just a bit much. I hope this gamble works.”

Séan grinned. “It’s less a gamble and more of a diagnostic step, but I can understand your reservations. I’ll alert sickbay that you’ll need bio-monitoring over the next couple of weeks while you’re off shift, just to be on the safe side. For the first dose I will administer it here and observe you for a half hour or however long you need to feel confident in assessing the changes. After that I’ll give you a hypo you can administer yourself, but if you feel weird in any way beyond the base sensations from the first shot, then report to medical immediately and they can try and neutralize it or sedate you if need be. I want daily visits for the first week to check on how you’re feeling both physically and emotionally. The second week we’ll see depending on how the first goes. Questions or concerns?”

Through quiet for a moment, Dira shook her head. “No, it’s all pretty straightforward. I’ll let Willow know what we’re up to so she’s not surprised and I guess you and I are going to have a lot of time to get to know each other,” she said, breaking into smirk. It was equally amusing that she was still sitting on his floor, but hey, therapy happened where it happened. She could get comfy during the observation period after he gave her the injection.

“When do you want to start the trial? I don’t have anything pressing in a couple of hours, though I do have an appointment before then, and I need to swing by sickbay to get the hyposprays anyway. Or I could pencil you in for sometime tomorrow.” Séan asked as he waited by Dyra.

Dira was always decisive when important decisions needed to be made. But she also understood that with everything that had happened lately she was second-guessing herself. But she trusted Iven, though they were still getting to know each other. She trusted, and could sense, that he had her best interests in mind. “Today it is. Call me when you’re ready. and I’ll come back.”

The departure of Dr. Iven had been unexpected. Surra had taken over immediately after he’d left and was playing catch up, sitting at what used to be his desk, in his office and reading his previous patients, now her patients, files on the PADD. She noticed that one of his last interactions was with the XO, Commander Myqian. Surra was impressed because in all her years of practicing psychiatry and being on multiple ships, the crew members who were at the top of command rarely came to visit her even though she thought they needed to more than the others. She read the doctor’s notes and saw that he planned to help her chemically suppress her telepathy using medication. Surra wanted to know more so she activated the communicator on her desk and opened a private channel to the Commander, =^=Almikaz to Commander Myqian, when you have a moment, can you stop by my office?=^=

For elsewhere on the ship, Myqian’s rich-toned voice sounded. =/\=Give me twenty and I’ll swing by that way. Myqian out.=/\= While she had cleared her schedule to deal with her issues today, there were some things she had had to check-in on.

Sure enough, a little while later, Dira made her way back to the Counselling Suite and pressed the chime. Some people in her position might have just strode in, but having been a therapist herself for so long she knew unexpected situations could pop up and she would never dream of intruding.

Surra was startled by the sound of the chime because she had never heard anyone ring it before. She figured it was the Commander but wasn’t sure. Most beings, especially the ones with her rank and position, just strolled into her office without any type of announcement.
“Commander if that is you, you may enter!”
