Willow nodded. “That sounds like an excellent plan. If you like, I have all of Starbase hospital and Starbase hospital: New blood, on holovid. Another gift.” She held her glass up as if indicating that it came from the same person who had given her the whiskey. “You could borrow it or we could watch it some time.”

Dira grinned. “I like the idea of kicking back together with medical drama nonsense. Though I have to ask, do you find it cringy at times since you know more medicine then the writers probably do?” Normally she’d not want to watch something that was so close to her own life, but something melodramatic and over-the-top? Sounded like fun.

Willow laughed. “You know, I asked that exact question when I was first introduced to the show. And the person at the time told me that I’d forget it when I got into it, no joke. So I started watching.”

She moved her hands as if trying to draw an image for Dira. “There I am, on a sofa in this random room in starfleet medical where I’m supposed to be studying for exams, and I thought I’d watch one episode just to say I had tried it and didn’t like it. And I hated it with a passion. I laughed at how ludicrous some of it was and then when it was done I was like right good. But then I start wondering does it get better? So I decide to watch till episode 3. And then it was 5…and suddenly it’s the whole season and I’m invested in the characters!”

“Oh no, addictive entertainment,” she said with a grin. “Well, it does sound like it might be worth the risk, count me in. Just name the time.”

“I have some off duty time next week if you fancy it after your shift ends.” She replied

For a moment Dira just gazed at Willow, and void of being able to sense the woman’s mind, she was using the rest of her skills. “You know, I know I still have a bit of self-doubt, and that it’s all a part of the learning process, but thank you, Willow. Some captains might have just brushed off my worries as inconsequential and told me to get over it. I appreciate you truly listening and I guess reassuring me too.”

With a grin Willow said “I appreciate you coming to talk to me. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the rank and procedure of everything and forget that the crews we have and the connections they share are just as important as the positions they hold and the jobs they do. More so in fact. We are starfleet officers certainly but we are people too.”
