“Thank you,” she said, downing a little more. “Now, since we’re talking about how things are going, feel up to giving me some feedback? You said I’m doing great, but I’d like to know objectively. Got some constructive criticism?”

Willow considered. “Yes. You’re too critical of your own work. “ she laughed. “Other than that I think you are able to work the command responsibilities really well, you’re worried about not being the counsellor but I think that being the counsellor makes you a cold commander just as being the doctor makes me able to do it too, we shouldn’t deny our beginnings.”

Myqian gave her friend’s words their due consideration. At length, she nodded. “I used to have this problem where I would become too emotionally connected to my patients. It was a great asset and not unexpected considering I’m a telepath, but there were obvious complications and especially when one of my patients had a bad outcome, I took it personally. I had to learn to guard against that, to maintain some sort of objectivity, and I think I might just need to do something similar here.” She took a hearty swallow of the scotch.

Willow nodded.

Lifting her head up to meet Willow’s gaze, she sighed. “So, other disclaimer… I’m not a telepath for the next couple of weeks. I’ve been getting these weird feelings off and on for awhile and Iven was worried that the extra sensory processing was overwhelming me more and that I could do with a mental break as it were.” It was no small thing and even if it was short-lived and harmless to her it, it did feel like something of a lobotomy.

Raising her eyebrows the red headed woman considered carefully a moment. “And how do you feel about that?” She asked.
