“Maybe we should capture some of, dispense it like caffeine,” Dira said, a wicked smile slipping on to her face.

Willow chuckled.

She sipped on her tea, relaxing just a little bit more. “Can I ask you something, on a personal but also still professional matter?”

“Sure, but if it’s about that plant in the arboretum I already met with it and told it to stop eating peoples shoes.”

She waited for Myqian to go on.

Dira that comment roll over the conversation and took a breath to gather her thoughts. “Did I make the right choice? Pulling myself from duty? Taking myself out of the decision process. It’s easier in a physical or mental heath situation. If there is a conflict of interest, the rules are quite clear. But with Command? Less clear. We don’t have the luxury of bowing out and hiding away when things get tough. Not only are we charged with the lives of this crew, we have a duty beyond the hull of ship. So I don’t know what the line is here. It felt like the right one in that moment, but I’m second-guessing myself Willow, and I don’t like that feeling. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that.” Earlier in her career had been a messy time and that made for a messy residency and early career. This wasn’t like back then, she hadn’t lost anyone she had been working with. But they could have. And that weighed on her.
